Virtual Business Office Associates is currently seeking a Hospital Payment Posting Specialist to join our Health Industries Advisory team.
We are looking for individuals with strong experience in cash posting and Epic. We offer room for advancement, flexible schedules, and benefits upon completion of a probationary period.

Payment Posting Specialist Responsibilities :
- Accepting and processing assigned batches electronically within the Professional billing module; correcting remittance errors generating after processing
- Monitors and corrects errors routed to professional billing work queues; responsible for correcting errors and clearing work queues regularly
- Posts self-pay remittance files to respective guarantor accounts in the system
- Manually posts EOB files and paper checks received from the lockbox; posts denial information and other pertinent follow-up information
- Closes each batch by verifying all payments have been posted appropriately and reconciled to the cash control amount specified
- Assist where necessary with end of month reconciliation procedures
- Responsible for posting insurance recoupments using designated debit or credit payment codes
- Processes unidentified payment to the appropriate account until further determination can be made on where to post payment;
includes contacting payers directly to acquire EOBs
- Analyzes provider level adjustment (PLB) content for accuracy prior to posting
- Contacts patients to resolve personal payment errors to ensure proper posting
- Performs scanning and indexing duties within OnBase; sorts and distributes follow-up correspondence to appropriate
- Follows procedures for the posting of remittances to non-Epic related systems where applicable
- Scans and processes necessary documentation and correspondence into OnBase for electronic storage
- Manages unmatched 835’s and deposits within Epic’s cash management system; this includes researching missing payments and / or remittance files through navigation of payer websites or contacting payers directly, as well as following up with the bank
Payment Posting Specialist Requirements :
- Minimum 3 years in healthcare payment posting
- Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications, specifically Excel and Word applications
- Documented technical proficiency within Resolute Hospital / Professional billing, specifically remittance processing modules;
position also may require knowledge of remittance processing and reconciliation procedures for legacy systems
- Demonstrated proficiency and expertise within Hyland OnBase to accurately scan and process documents into a central imaging repository
- Ability to effectively navigate payer website / portals
- Demonstrated Proficiency with medical billing and remittance forms and processes, including 835 and 837 files, and UB04 and CMS-1500 (HCFA) forms
- Position requires a High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor’s degree in a business related or Health Care Administration field is preferred.
- An equivalent of combination of education and / or work experience may also be considered
- Knowledge of and experience with Epic required
- General knowledge of medical billing and collections processes preferred
- General knowledge of healthcare terminology preferred
