Gift Card Accounting Specialist

This position plays an integral role in supporting the accounting processes for revenue accounting, primarily around the Gift Card Program. This position ensures the Company has properly recorded the gift card activations and redemptions. In addition, they are responsible for ensuring the liability, receivable, and prepaid expenses are properly recorded each month. The accounting processor may be assigned special projects, such as investigating gift cards reported as stolen.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Complete processing and daily balancing of gift card fulfillment, including corporate orders, guest relations activations, and department orders. Timely research any variances and work with other departments as needed to resolve variances.
• Daily reconciliation of restaurant level transactions to the General Ledger and timely preparation of appropriate correcting journal entries.
• Thoroughly understand general ledger, sales journal system and gift card database to support daily gift card research. Act as the daily research and query go-to person for the team and restaurants.
• Support various month end closing activities, including accurate preparation, and recording of month end closing entries including recording discounts, breakage, and fees.
• Reconcile the gift card balance sheet accounts timely, and accurately identifying and escalating variances as needed.
• Answer restaurant manager gift card inquiries and provide prompt resolution of restaurant management requests and communicate proper cash handling procedures to managers.
• Assist restaurant managers with implementing efficient processes for gift cards.
• Key revenue department invoices to the Oracle AP system
• Periodic support for in bound restaurant Revenue mail sorting, as well as credit card receipt and paid out pull support.
• Identify opportunities for improving efficiencies and strengthening controls.
• Support the Revenue Accounting Supervisor, Gift Card Manager, and Operations Accounting Director on special projects or requests, as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, preferred
• 2 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role

• Intermediate skills in Excel
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Self-starter with the ability to prioritize, organize, and complete work with minimal supervision.
• Attention to detail with strong follow-up skills
• Experience with large accounting systems, especially Oracle, a plus
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet daily and weekly deadlines.
• Excellent telephone skills for resolving restaurant and various RSC department issues
• Professionalism in working with vendors, restaurant management, and various levels of leadership within the Company
