Maintenance Technician

Highly technical individual with a positive attitude that has a proactive mindset on maintaining, inspecting and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment. This position has a high focus on continuous improvement and machine reliability. The ideal candidate performs electrical work consisting of PLCs, servo motors, drives, electrical circuits, and other related systems. Completes work assigned in a timely manner and records information in the CMMS to track equipment repairs. Troubleshoots equipment and machinery to identify issues and find solutions. Performs preventive maintenance and monitors inventory levels for parts and supplies.  

Job Duties and Accountabilities:

• Safety.        Works in a safe manner. Complies with safe work practices at all times. Completes forklift certification as required. Reports unsafe conditions or situation to supervisor or management. Understands and fully complies with Lock-out/Tag-out procedures for all equipment and machinery.
• Food Safety.  Complies with and executes Good Manufacturing Practices. Recognizes non-compliance and takes action to correct or report observed violations of GMPs.
• Maintenance, Repair, and Installation. Performs minor and major repair of equipment and machinery. Calibrates and repairs pneumatic systems, PLCs, motors, drives and conveyors.  May perform fabrication as part of assigned duties. Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required. Meets productivity requirements for assigned work. Acts as the driving force for machine reliability and efficiency targets. Familiar with center-line practices for machine setup. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Inventory Control.  Monitors maintenance parts and supplies inventories and takes action to ensure minimum inventory levels are maintained. May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts, and may order parts as required. Works directly with Maintenance Planner on upcoming work and required materials. 
• Teamwork and Collaboration.   Actively engages in maintenance team meetings and provides timely feedback to team regarding work topics.  Understands the importance of teamwork and values each team member’s input. Understands available resources, and utilizes those resources when appropriate

• Communication.  Effectively communicates with team members, ensuring information regarding maintenance issues is effectively communicated to production and maintenance teams.  Demonstrates sound oral and written communication skills.  Communicates effectively and professionally to both internal and external parties. Executes effective customer communication and relationship building techniques.

 Incumbent Profile:

 Education and Experience Required

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• 5 years of documented work experience in building and mechanical maintenance and repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to operate a forklift, and have the ability to be forklift certified within 30 days of hire. Prefer experience in a food manufacturing environment.

 Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required

• Knowledge of PLCs, servo motors, electrical systems and circuits.
• Knowledge of pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, and production equipment.
• Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability identify problems and develop solutions.
• Effective communication skills
• Able to effectively work in a team environment
• Positive attitude with a team player mentality
• Able to lead by example and exhibit high level of integrity
