Position Description
Redhorse Corporation has an immediate need for a part-time Contingency Engineer who has experience as a Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineer on a task with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Engineer Research and Design Center (ERDC) Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL). The activity is based in Champaign, IL and telecommuting is the preferred option for this position. Periodic travel is required, with the travel commitment not expected to exceed 10% of the work year.
The Contingency Engineers(Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineers) will provide support and leadership on the review of construction packages for CERL. The Engineers will conduct and participate in military facility and infrastructure technology assessments, analysis, and modeling.
Types of analysis include:
* contingency military facilities and shelters,
* power generation, distribution and monitoring systems;
* fire safety;
* mechanical;
* heating; ventilation and cooling systems;
* constructability in a contingency environment and compliance with Unified Facility Codes
The Contingency Engineer (Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineers) will also provide analysis and assessment of construction materials and cost estimates as well as performing integrated technology evaluations and modeling new facilities within USACE proprietary software. The Contingency Engineer (Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineers) will provide call-on and direct reviews by other engineering specialties when appropriate to supplement the abilities of the team.
Basic Requirements, Skills, Credentials, and Education- Experience with contingency construction is required.
- Experience preparing cost estimates and developing Bills of Material is required.
- A Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution in an engineering discipline, architecture, construction, or physics is preferred.
- A current Mechanical, Structural, or Civil Engineer license is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with increasing responsibility in performing and leading construction reviews in several technical areas is required.
- Demonstrated team leadership and project management skills desired; as well as good interpersonal skills to work with multiple people during daily activities and manage the day-to-day activities of technology-focused subordinates.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, and when not managing subordinates, to work on tough problems require a high degree of expertise in his/her discipline(s).
