About the Position


Position type: Full-time, in-person, intermediate level, 3-years' experience required.


Travel Required: Yes, up to 70% of the time.

Location: Our office is located in Fallston, Maryland, where the Sustainability Project Coordinator will spend the majority of their time. The rest of the time will involve traveling to client sites across the country as needed to assess current programs and implement new ones as desired by our clients. The amount of travel required cannot be quantified ahead of time, as it is dictated by the contracts we agree to and can fluctuate from month to month. While gaining experience, the Sustainability Project Coordinator will likely be required to visit some of our local client accounts (in and around Baltimore or Washington, DC) to learn more about what we do and how we support our clients.

                                                                                                                                 

Benefits Offered: Yes. After a 90-day probationary period, health insurance coverage options are available and paid time off kicks in at 80 hours per year. Job Purpose:


This is a unique opportunity to join our team and work directly with organizations to make sustainability possible. We are looking for star performers who have a minimum of three (3) years of experience working in the sustainability sector or other related fields (e.g., waste and project management) to help take our clients’ sustainability efforts to the next level. In addition to proven project management experience, candidates should be able to articulate and execute best practices within waste diversion, behavior change, and sustainability. Building and maintaining client relationships is vital to our team's success. Therefore, in addition to the appropriate hard skills, candidates will need to possess the necessary soft skills to manage client expectations. Selected candidates will be asked to complete a pre-employment survey to evaluate individual skillsets as part of the screening process.


Primary Responsibilities:

 

  • Plan and maintain project scopes, task schedules, and budgets for our deliverable-based accounts.
  • Visit client sites to assess situations, identify issues, and implement new programs as needed.
  • Facilitate client meetings (virtually and in-person): Coordinate, plan agendas, take notes, and send follow-ups.
  • Collaborate across organizations to define solutions, make timely decisions, and communicate these decisions clearly and concisely through effective written and verbal communication methods.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, vendors, and third-party organizations.
  • Utilize public speaking and presentation skills to deliver program plans and updates to varying groups of individuals (from C-Suite decision-makers to front-line workers).
  • Translate qualitative and quantitative data into digestible stories to promote opportunities and quantify program success.
  • Assist with writing reports to close out projects.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively as needed to solve problems and achieve results.


Skills/Qualifications:

 

  • 3 years (in house candidate 2 years) related and relevant experience with work samples and references.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Sustainability or Sustainability Management, Environmental Science/Health, Public Policy, Project Management, or related field.
  • Knowledgeable about local, regional, and national environmental issues related to waste reduction.
  • Creative problem-solving and analytical skills along with effective and forward-thinking organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and customer service skills.
  • Are self-motivated, a strong influencer and negotiator.
  • Ability to think strategically, energize others, and lead efforts to effect positive change.
  • The right candidate will be eager to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty.
  • Willingness to travel out of state and to work off hours and weekends on occasion (25% of the time).
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds and walk up to six (6) miles per day.
  • Abides by a Green lifestyle.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be willing to work in the healthcare environment.
  • Position subject to vendor badging requirements as needed (complete immunization records, background screening, drug screening, etc.)
