Scope of role Responsibility within the organization for Electronic hardware design, PCB layout and schematics, , Power supply design , testing & validation. Gaining application expertise, and delivering new technology through electronic hardware development. Key Responsibilities Design and develop electronics control hardware for electric motors including permanent magnet, induction, electronically commutated motors, standalone controllers, and mixed analog and digital electronic circuits Select and assess suitability of electronic components, such as IGBT/IPM, Diodes, SCRs, DC link Capacitors and DC linked chokes based on switching characteristics and losses Design and develop Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) - Front end Buck/Boost PFC converter for AC to DC Conversion Support design of complex projects from concept to realization based on commercial requirements including topology and component selection, schematic capture, circuit board layout, test plan development, and validation testing and documentation Work with application engineering and potential customers to understand pain points to define unique solutions for a given air moving application in addition to new product development. Ability to design experiments to evaluate various applications, documents and provide innovative and cost effective solutions. Simulate and optimize circuit designs using computational analysis tools Be proficient with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, power, loads, and data acquisition systems Demonstrate leadership and initiative by independently identifying, assessing, and recommending solutions for technical issues or opportunities Communicate clearly and concisely to team members and leadership Research and promote industry best practices for hardware development Understand or willing to learn regulatory standards such as UL , IEC for ensuring proper design qualifications practices. Collaborate across the organization to increase speed of development and meet cost, performance and timeline targets PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS The successful candidate will have meet the following qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field 5 years of experience in electronics design Desire to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative setting Strong ability to rapidly research, conceptualize, prototype, and evaluate new technologies such as communications protocols, motor controls, power electronics, and other digital hardware Proficiency in design, evaluation, laboratory testing, and agency testing of digital and analog electronics, such as UL60730 Experience in circuit design and simulation, including tools such as Altium, Allegro Cadence, PSIM, MATLAB Experience with controls for Electrical Rotating Machines (120V – 690V, 1Ph, 3Ph, 0.37KW to 15KW) Knowledge of evaluating reliability of electronic circuits Familiar with EMI, Hi-Pot, transients, ESD, Surge, Ground leakage/Ground bond Designing for manufacturability and testability Willingness to work out of our Grafton, Wisconsin office/ Tipp City OH office.
