Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Regular and consistent attendance.
  • Perform the technical support and maintenance tasks necessary to operate and monitor the network environment and respond to problems as they arise. Specific task responsibilities include:
    • Implement best practice processes and systems to manage perimeter security, internal security and audit controls, application of encryption techniques and technologies, and other control systems as required.
    • Manage WAN provider relationships both administratively and technically.
    • Reports significant system outages and causes to IT management and recommends changes to the IT environment as necessary.
    • Provides direct network support, including router and switch configuration, firewall administration, VPN support, and IDS/IPS and URL filtering management.
    • Monitors software and hardware vendors for new releases and patches and applies same as appropriate to Regal’s network and security technology environment.
  • Implement, support, and report on Regal WAN network operations. Specific responsibilities include:
    • Regularly review all network systems to ensure controls are present and appropriate.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve network outages.
    • Configure network equipment for deployment in Regal’s network.
    • Participate as a team/project resource to complete current and future network improvement projects.
    • Monitor new developments in network technology and recommend solutions as appropriate.
    • Recommend IT operations policies for review by Regal’s Network team.
    • Provide required infrastructure components and connectivity solutions to all sites and services as appropriate.
  • Manages the Disaster Recovery plan to ensure that applications can be recovered to meet the Recovery Time Objectives as defined and approved by Management:
    • Monitors and tests network backup processes to ensure that recovery is possible
    • Designs, develops and monitors a DR test environment to be used to create and validate application process for individual business applications
    • Participates on the on-site Recovery Center team in the event of a disaster for Network related components
    • Participate in and support drills and tests to ensure that applications, systems, and servers can be recovered as needed in the event of a disaster as well as in the event of device failures in normal operations.
    • Identify opportunities to improve the resiliency and/or recoverability of Regal’s network and security environment.
    • Identifies opportunities to reduce risk and mitigate potential threats; proposes solutions as necessary
  • Collaborates with other IT groups to ensure ongoing operation and maintenance of Regal’s information infrastructure
    • Testing and Implementing (new and replacement) and / or upgrade hardware components; manages implementation and distribution of upgraded applications to production environment
    • Collaborate with Application Development and other groups to ensure that new components conform to Regal’s technology network architecture requirements.
    • Troubleshooting and fixing (through responsible vendors) software problems
    • Collaborating with IT groups to maintain, problem solve and upgrade computing facilities
    • Providing 2nd level support to IT teams and users who require help
    • Updates network infrastructure to remove vulnerabilities identified by IT Information Security processes; updates network standards and design as needed
  • Develops and manages the Regal relationship with key infrastructure vendors to ensure compliance with defined Service Level Objectives and / or contract terms and schedules
    • Monitors status of equipment with respect to warranty coverage and recommends action as needed
    • Recommends changes to contracts or SLAs with key vendors as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Must have strong tactical and working knowledge of all technologies currently in-use and planned

  • Must be a disciplined process-oriented individual able to lead implementation of best practice controls and processes.
  • Possess good problem solving skills for a complex network topology, being able to assemble a team as needed to identify issues, root causes and solutions.
  • Must have proven ability to work successfully in a high volume, technically demanding job, providing leadership and customer service while utilizing excellent judgment

  • Must be proactive in identifying and correcting infrastructure deficiencies.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent IT systems manager experience.  Three to five years of experience and a proven track record in installing and supporting a complex network with multiple technology types, technology suppliers, and network elements.   Current and demonstrated expertise in IT network operations, systems, and reporting including responsibility for having implemented routing and switching topologies, firewall architectures, and collateral security systems.  At least two years reference-able experience with responsibility for IT network operations at a large retail, financial service, or Internet service corporation based on Cisco networking standards.  Experience with formal project management techniques, process design and management (metrics) and direct administration of Cisco routers and switches is required.  Experience with the administration of Experience with the administration of Checkpoint NG/NGx firewalls is highly desirable.  Experience in Theatre Information Technology is preferred. 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • CCNP certification is desired.
  • Must have or previously held a Cisco certification.

 

Language Ability:

Must have excellent interpersonal and communications skills to effectively communicate with business unit executives, management and staff, as well as IT management and staff.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, draw and interpret bar graphs. Understand standard numeric schedules and be able to alter schedules as necessary to attain the desired results under the established deadline.

Reasoning Ability:

Proven data analysis, data verification, and problem-solving abilities. Must be proactive in identifying and anticipating future business system’s needs.

Computer Skills:

Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts. Experience working with Microsoft Tools. Excellent PC skills and basic programming experience

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.
