We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist to join the Neuroscience Therapeutic Focus Area (TFA) at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. Our team is dedicated to collaborative research to develop new delivery technologies and therapeutic strategies for nervous system diseases. This includes Parkinsons Disease, Multiple System Atrophy, Dementia with Lewy Body, Alzheimers, Fronto-Temporal Dementia, Motor Neuron Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Schizophrenia, Depression, and Pain.

In this role, you will conduct laboratory experiments that contribute to projects to design, develop and functionally validate gene therapy and gene editing tools, novel viral vectors, and nucleic acid therapeutics for treating neurological and neurodegenerative disorders. You will support technology development for antibody-based strategies to improve targeted drug delivery across the blood brain barrier (BBB), to the CNS and into specific tissues and cell types of interest.

As an Associate Scientist in the Neuroscience team, a typical day might include the following:

  • Planning and performing experiments to functionally validate novel targeted drugs (siRNAs, ASOs, shRNAs, CRISPR systems, vectorized antibodies or peptides) and viral vectors in in vitro models.

  • Performing cell culture with immortalized cell lines, iPSC-derived cells and primary cultures, and cell-based assays (ICC, flow cytometry).

  • Planning, initiating, and completing molecular biology and biochemistry assays: molecular cloning, PCR, RT-qPCR, RNA sequencing, ELISAs, IP, WB, CE-western.

  • Performing advanced data analysis (Halo, ImageJ, FlowJo, Prism) and troubleshooting under minimal supervision.

  • Keeping up-to-date and well-organized records of experimental protocols and results.

  • Communicating and reporting experimental findings at group and departmental meetings.

  • Surveying current and relevant literature to expand scientific and technical knowledge and optimize and develop new assays.

To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a bachelors degree in biology, neuroscience or a related field with 1 years of lab experience. Experience in neuroscience, molecular tools for CNS targeting, in vitro models of neurodegenerative disorders are highly desirable.
