What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Assistant/ Phlebotomist - Modified Full Time (72 hours every 2 weeks) position at Regional Health Services of Howard County?
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs a variety of duties in the laboratory, including, but not limited to, drawing blood, answering telephones, scheduling appointments, data entry and management, record keeping, preparing specimens and requisitions for reference lab tests, reporting of results, maintaining inventory and restocking, and maintaining equipment, and general cleaning. Performs routine technical work in laboratory under the direction of the clinical laboratory technologist. Could also be responsible for phlebotomy services, including patient blood samples through venipuncture and other technologies as ordered by a physician. Receives the physician requests and collects blood specimens from patients by performing venipunctures, heelsticks or fingersticks. Properly identifies patient and correctly labels specimens. Will also travel to nursing homes in town for phlebotomy services, as well as traveling to businesses for health fairs.
*This position is Modified Full Time, 72 hours every 2 weeks*
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prefer previous office and phlebotomy experience.
- Must be proficient in drawing all ages of patients within 60 days of beginning this position.
- BLS (CPR) certified or obtained within 3 months of employment.
