Instructional Strategist and 3-8 BARR Coordinator

 

Located a ½ mile from the Atlantic Ocean and 15 minutes from Portland, Loranger Memorial School is a grades 3-8 school with 275 students within RSU 23 seeking an Instructional Strategist to join our faculty for the start of the 2024-2025 school year. The successful candidate should possess the following:
 

The Instructional Strategist will use various systems to collect and analyze school data to determine trends and work with staff to offer teaching practices to support student growth. The strategist will collaborate with all stakeholders to organize and implement research-based interventions and monitor student progress. Experience with BARR model preffered, specifically in the areas of data management, leadership, and facilitating team meetings. The Instructional Strategist will support and model instructional best practices for teachers as well as supporting students by delivering targeted instruction as determined through the MTSS process. The Instructional Strategist will work closely with the Principal to ensure students are meeting growth targets and achieving academic benchmarks. 


CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Citizenship, residency or work visa 
  • Maintains or is eligible for Maine Department of Education Teaching Certificate (020), or Teaching Certificate that meets criteria for Middle Level Educator

QUALIFICATIONS / JOB SUMMARY:

  • The Instructional Strategist will have experience and knowledge of intervention programs. They must be willing to work as part of a team, and will have prior teaching experience. They will create and implement targeted lesson plans for small groups of students requiring additional academic support. Flexibility and enthusiasm for working with elementary and middle school-aged students is a must.
  • Supports and models instructional based practices for teachers.
  • Collaborates in the leadership of school-based MTSS systems by organizing, scheduling, and facilitating meetings. Experience with BARR model is preferred.
  • Administers and assists instructional staff with mandated test programs and/or subjects specific assignments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with administration, staff, parents, and community members to support school based goals. This includes the ability to plan and provide professional development for educators.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging, relevant, and differentiated student instruction.
  • Analyzes test data for the purpose of enhancing student achievement.
  • Strong skills and abilities with technology, specifically in the area of data tracking and use of spreadsheets.
  • Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration.
  • Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.
