What are the responsibilities and job description for the MLS-Microbiology position at Regions Hospital?
Regions Hospital Microbiology Laboratory is currently seeking a self-motivated, quality-focused Medical Lab Scientist in our Microbiology department to join our team.
As a Medical Lab Scientist at Regions Hospital you will join an innovative and collaborative group of professionals in our newly remodeled laboratory designed for ergonomics and workflow. Our team has also been engaged in developing our new laboratory information system designed to provide efficiency and patient safety.
As part of our team, you will perform specimen receiving, culture setup, culture reading for various specimen sources and perform susceptibility and molecular testing and share responsibility for quality assurance for the department.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, biology, or other science related field.
- Advanced Degree or training (Masters in Sciences or Clinical Specialty) may substitute for preferred certification
Preferred Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a Clinical rotation in an approved program that qualifies for ASCP certification or equivalent.
- Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) Certification with ASCP or equivalent agency or eligible preferred
