Position Purpose
As a member of our Legal Team, the Paralegal at Regis Corporation will be responsible for assisting our in-house attorney(s) by drafting and editing various contractual agreements, assisting in litigation preparations, and performing other various administrative legal tasks to support the department as required. This position reports directly to the AVP of Corporate Legal and will play a key role in the day-to-day operations of our Legal Department.
Candidate must be Minneapolis-based, however the Paralegal role will be a hybrid position.
Responsibilities
- Manage intake, tracking, and initial review of contracts submitted for legal review, such as non-disclosure, vendor, and independent contractor agreements.
- Maintain database of executed contracts, including parties, term dates, renewals, and other relevant provisions.
- Maintain database of contract forms
- Assist with corporate governance, including maintenance of corporate records
- Manage service of process, and route documents served to appropriate internal recipients
- Support legal counsel with management of varied, nationwide litigation, including tracking case management dates; drafting and distributing litigation holds; retaining and liaising with outside counsel; managing fees, costs, and budgets; obtaining information from employees; collecting relevant documents and data for discovery, and maintaining electronic case files
- Maintain database of litigated matters
- Prepare periodic and ad hoc litigation reports and communicate with internal stakeholders regarding litigation risks and liabilities
- Track and assist with responding to subpoenas
- Assist with responses to non-litigated disputes, including regulatory investigations, administrative charges, and demand letters
- Gather factual information and data necessary to provide legal advice to internal stakeholders
- Collaborate with other members of the Legal team on department projects and initiatives, including establishing and maintaining processes and procedures for managing legal matters
Qualifications
- Paralegal certificate from an ABA accredited program or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
- Minimum of 5 years' paralegal experience, previous experience in a corporate in-house legal department strongly preferred
- Understanding of legal terms, principles, and processes
- Experience reviewing and drafting standard commercial contracts
- Experience handling litigation matters, including periodic and ad hoc reporting
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical skills
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
- Experience using various software applications (including Word, Excel, and Adobe) and legal research applications, and using and maintaining electronic databases
- Must have exceptional customer focus and approachability
- Must have exceptional organizational skills and the ability to consistently prioritize, coordinate and satisfy numerous competing demands
- Successfully achieve deadline driven results that effectively achieve business objectives
- Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment
