Minimum Qualifications is any of the following:

Education:

Associates Degree 4 year(s) related experience

Experience:

Associates degree in environmental science, engineering, chemistry or biology is desirable. May substitute environmental or bioenvironmental technical training and 2 years relevant experience in core areas of the position description. Background in environmental science/management with knowledge of federal, state and local environmental laws and regulations. Experience in using environmental field testing equipment. Knowledge of environmental protection and bioenvironmental programs and regulatory compliance. Minimum of four years experience in environmental science/management.

Licenses or Certifications:

Asbestos Training, HMMP (AFSPC Hazardous Material Mgmt Process), DEP–Reporting for Small Water System Assistance

Security Clearance:

Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information with a SECRET Clearance.

I. BASIC FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:

Assists in the planning, implementation, and administration of all environmental protection and bioenvironmental engineering programs for the installation

II. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

(Duties and responsibilities which occupy a major portion of time and importance in the job. Incumbent(s) perform one or more of the following duties.)

  • Conducts inspections, performs sampling, and prepares reports on environmental, health, and safety issues.
  • Provides guidance on Air Force (AF), federal, state, and local regulations dealing with: air emissions; wastewater discharges; noise; hazardous waste and hazardous materials; drinking water; industrial hygiene; natural and cultural resources; pollution prevention, and occupational health and safety.
  • Assists in the preparation and submission of permit applications; contractor data requirement lists (CDRLs), technical reports, environmental assessments, and regulatory correspondence.
  • May be required to attend AF, federal, state, and local meetings to discuss environmental issues. Conducts training on environmental protection and bioenvironmental engineering programs for site personnel.
  • Maintains complete and current documentation of all federal, state, local, and AF regulations. Monitors and updates environmental protection plans and operational instructions.
  • Manages the Occupational Health and Safety Program.
  • Performs other duties not limited to requisitioning materials, maintaining data/logs/files, conducting ancillary training and participating in exercises as a spill team member.
  • Complies with security policies, PWS requirements, and directive publications. Travel may be required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

III. SUPERVISION:

A. Responsibilities for Work of Others

Supervises nonexempt and exempt employees’ environmental training

B. Supervision Received

Works under the general supervision of the Environmental Manager and Civil Engineering Manger. Work is checked for results achieved. Defines own work assignments within specific guidelines.

IV. WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

A. Physical Tasks

Exerts limited physical energy. May have to handle 20-30 pound loads on occasion.

B. Working Conditions

Normal office environment. May work extended hours or weekends. May travel overnight or on weekends.
