ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Primary duties will include taking directions from and assisting senior level technicians or site supervisor. Functions will include, but not limited to, performing mission and test related activities on the Open Air Ranges located in numerous geographical locations on the Eglin range complex including Santa Rosa Island. Function may include assisting senior level Range Specialists with performing pre-mission, during mission, and post mission inspections; coordinating range test/mission/training activities such as checking in, observing, and checking out range users; inspecting ranges and range facilities and equipment; gathering test/mission/training data; securing ranges: minor repairs of range apparatuses; inspecting vehicles; and housekeeping. Incumbent must become proficient in roles associated with range control operations such as Target Observer, Mission Controller, and coordinating road guard support with the Workload Optimization Center (WOC). This individual must become proficient in utilizing range control tools such as Center Scheduling Enterprise (CSE) to interpret site’s daily mission requirements. This individual must become proficient utilizing the Joint Test/Training Operations and Control Center (JTTOCC) and its function on Eglin AFB, understanding Eglin’s range access procedures (“Z” clearances), and radio operations/etiquette as related to Eglin range operations. Incumbent must become proficient with these functions and job duties learned and performed at this level that require certification as a Range Control Officer. Must be able to navigate the Eglin Test and Training Complex day or night without a map. May be required to work shiftwork, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school graduate or equivalent (GED) and one (1) year related experience with Eglin range operations and maintenance, command and control, or test and training operations.
GENERAL DUTIES: Range Control Specialist II performs duties associated with Range Control Operations on the Open Air Ranges and associated test areas by taking directions from higher-level technicians or a site supervisor. This position provides support in such areas as range testing, range mission requirements/operations, and other types of activities located on the testing, training, and mission ranges located within the Eglin complex and on Santa Rosa Island. This individual performs simple routine or repetitive tasks under close supervision. Assignments will be checked during performance or upon completion. Performs duties such as assembling or installing apparatuses for range operations, performing simple or routine inspections, operating and adjusting simple range test equipment, and recording test/training data. Assignments are limited in variety and complexity and reviewed by supervisor or senior technician for adequacy and conformity. May support other sites and areas of the O&M Contract as needed.
OTHER DUTIES: Will perform general housekeeping, facility inspections, vehicle upkeep and inspections, and other job-related tasks. May be required to handle hazardous material/hazardous waste and other duties as assigned.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports EOMS operational objectives; observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement. Candidates must be able to pass physicals and eye exams related to the job functions. Must have and be able to maintain a valid driver’s license.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work may be performed at various heights above ground level. May perform duties both inside and outside and be subjected to a variety of environmental conditions typical to the work area.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Occasionally required to stoop, bend, kneel, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, and move heavy items. Must be able to lift 50lbs and negotiate stairways without difficulty.
