Reliant Systems, Inc. is located in a new, modern, climate controlled 40,000 sq ft building in Zimmerman, MN. Reliant Systems, Inc. (RSI) is a vertically integrated designer and manufacturer of high precision linear and rotary positioning stages. We specialize in custom, easy to integrate OEM motion assemblies that have been designed for a customer’s specific application.
Our positioning stages are found in metrology, inspection, and production tools used in the semiconductor, medical device, additive manufacturing, and laser machining industries.
Besides manufacturing products of our own design, we also offer build-to-print manufacturing for customers who have their own design and want to outsource production. Our expertise and experience building precision motion hardware, along with our ability to measure performance, ensures that what we build will meet all specifications.
Position Summary:
The Production Manager is responsible for effectively managing and leading the Production department in order to meet production goals, deadlines, and budgets. This position will be accountable for optimizing current processes and maintaining the highest standards of quality, leading efforts to reduce errors and unnecessary costs. The Production Manager is responsible for the performance of the Production team, providing clear direction and focus to meet on-time delivery in accordance with the production schedule.
Essential Functions:
- Responsible for all assembly operations and meeting customer deadlines.
- Refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing/production principles and techniques to critical or high-impact areas of production.
- Work with Quality to establish rigorous quality controls for assembly processes.
- Ensure assembly processes are documented and maintained.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, establishing industry networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, and/or participating in professional associations.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, ensuring adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
- Recommend actions by analyzing and interpreting data and making comparative analyses.
- Analyze, substantiate, and propose changes in methods and materials with cost and quality impact.
- Share specialized knowledge with others.
- Represent company on high-level projects.
- Assist in assembly work and problem solving directly, when necessary.
- Work with Supply Chain to ensure jobs and parts come in and finished products go out to meet customer demands.
- Work with Engineering to coordinate use of resources.
- Work with Sales and Master Scheduler on customer due dates.
- Review, edit, and approve ECO’s.
- Manage multiple projects as assigned.
- Ensure clean room and production supplies are maintained and stocked.
- Ensure proper and timely maintenance is performed on production equipment.
- Perform administrative activities associated with the effective management of the responsible area, including compiling, storing, and retrieving data for reports.
- Implement safety protocols and address safety issues for the department as they occur.
- Establish and maintain a highly flexible and trained workforce.
- Ensure tools and granites are calibrated annually.
- Operate and maintain an organized, cost-effective department; utilize resources in an effective and efficient manner.
- Promote teamwork and cooperation between areas of responsibility and other departments.
- Effectively orient and provide on the job training (OJT) to ensure the best quality employee with the lowest possibility of turnover, while growing employee careers.
- Ensure employees have appropriate training and other resources to perform their jobs successfully.
- Ensure employee performance evaluations are completed on time per company policy.
- Respond to and resolve employee relations’ issues; Address disciplinary and/or performance problems according to company policy in coordination with site Executive Management and HR partners.
- Conduct production meetings and other meetings as required and/or requested by management. Ensure that appropriate information is gathered and distributed at meetings.
- Represent or provide a representative who participates in company’s Safety Committee.
- Ensure proper, effective communication with employees at all levels.
- Establish and maintain a skills matrix to always ensure a highly trained and flexible team
- Prioritize, schedule, assign, plan, and monitor the work of department personnel.
- Ensure employees’ worked and non-worked time is accurately recorded in the timekeeping system.
- Establish and maintain a capacity model that ensures we stay ahead of demand that include cost and timing considerations to meet company growth.
- Ensure staff records appropriate data and verifies the data for quality.
- Participate in the interviewing and hiring process.
- Create and implement strategic initiatives to ensure a high functioning department.
- Determine responsibilities of assigned staff positions to accomplish business objectives.
- Participate in strategic planning with Executive Management.
- Other duties as assigned by members of Executive Management.
