Position Title: Assistant Controller
Location: Canton, MA – Onsite
Organizational Relationship: Reporting to Marie Gertje, Controller.
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our finance team as an Assistant Controller. As Assistant Controller, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting. Working closely with the Controller and other members of the finance team, you will be responsible for a range of tasks, including but not limited to operations, financial analysis, month-end close activities, and compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Previous experience in manufacturing, working with the federal government and/or using Epicor is very desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting:
- Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations.
- Assist in preparation of quarterly board meeting presentations.
- Month-End Close:
- Coordinate and execute month-end close procedures in a timely and accurate manner.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve any discrepancies.
- Operations:
- Review and submit payroll bi-weekly.
- Submit remote check deposits as needed.
- Prepare weekly accounts payable check run.
- Act as liaison with remote accounting manager.
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Work closely with various departments to gather relevant financial information.
- Financial Analysis:
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to support decision-making.
- Provide insights into financial performance and trends.
- Audit Support:
- Collaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process.
- Prepare audit schedules and ensure timely completion of audit requests.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
- Streamline financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather information and address inquiries.
- Provide support and guidance to junior members of the finance team.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; CPA certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with a focus on financial reporting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial regulations.
- Knowledge of the full accounting cycle.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality, a high level of accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
- Must have excellent communication skills (oral, writing and editing).
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Proficiency in financial software is required.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel is preferred.
- Experience with Epicor, working in manufacturing or with the federal government is preferred.
