Renaissance Charter School 2 is a new charter high school in Elmhurst, NY. We are professional, agile, innovative and our goal is to identify a passionate and experienced educator to join our team as a collaborative Dean of Student Support (2024-2025) This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing school and help shape our curriculum and instructional approach from the ground up. This Dean population will have opportunities to serve both elementary and high school students.

We're looking for an enthusiastic, dedicated and compassionate Dean to assist with discipline and support functions in Renaissance . The successful candidate will be responsible for upholding the disciplinary policies at Ren2 and participate in building a meaningful school community. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a safe and supportive learning environment for students by promoting positive behavior and discipline, providing counseling and support services, and coordinating with teachers and staff to promote academic success.

Responsibilities:

Student Discipline Management:

  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to promote positive behavior and discipline among students.
  • Investigate and resolve disciplinary issues and complaints in a timely and effective manner.
  • Work closely with teachers and staff to monitor student behavior and ensure a safe learning environment.
  • Develop and conduct training for teachers and staff on effective discipline management strategies.
  • Contribute to building a merit/demerit behavioral system
  • Orchestrate and oversee detentions and in-school suspensions with available assistance from the student discipline committee.

Counseling and Support Services:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students who may be struggling academically, emotionally, or socially.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and outside agencies to develop and implement plans to support students in need.
  • Connect students and families to resources and support services as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation of counseling and support services provided.

Academic Support:

  • Work with teachers and staff to develop and implement programs to promote academic success for all students.
  • Develop and conduct workshops and training for teachers/students on study skills, time management, and other academic success strategies.
  • Provide ongoing support and resources to teachers and staff to enhance academic achievement for all students.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Communicate regularly with teachers, staff, and administration to ensure effective coordination of support services and programs.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and community organizations to promote positive relationships and support student success.
  • Maintain open communication and accessibility to students, parents, and staff to address concerns, answer questions, and provide support as needed.
  • Creating routine student discipline reports for all staff

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Counseling, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in education, counseling, or related field, with experience in discipline management and student support services.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, policies, and procedures related to student discipline, counseling, and support services.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
