What are the responsibilities and job description for the Busser position at Renaissance Fort Lauderdale Hotel?
The Busser is responsible for setting tables, placing and replacing silverware, keeping beverage glasses full. Also, the Busser is to adhere to sanitation and safety policies, clearing and cleaning tables, chairs, and environment.
Essential Functions:

- Prepares dining room for guests by cleaning and clothing tables, setting decorations, condiments, candles, napkins, service plates, and utensils.
- Protects establishment and guests by adhering to sanitation and safety policies.
- Maintains menu presentation by keeping menus clean, replacing damaged or soiled pages.
- Maintains table setting by removing courses as completed, replenishing utensils, refilling water glasses, being alert to guest spills or other special needs.
- Supports wait staff by setting-up and replenishing condiment stands, trash containers liner, and bus stations.
- Promptly reports emergencies, accidents, injuries, missing articles, damage, engineering items, and safety hazards to management.
- Complies with all guest service basics such as uniforms, nametags and proper guest greeting.
- Knowledgeable on hotel facilities and services to assist guest as appropriate.
- Ensures all communication containing Company, hotel, brand and guest information is consistent with privacy policies, practices and regulations.
- Maintains complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards; maintains complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Equipment only to be used as intended.
- Anticipate guests and fellow team member needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests and team members, however busy and whatever time of day; be familiar with all Hotel services/features and activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
- Respond in a positive, calm tone to guests and team members at all times.
- Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
- Attend trainings, meetings, and other department events, as scheduled
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications:
The Company may consider equivalent combination of acceptable education and experience providing the knowledge, skills and abilities cited below.
Education and Experience:
- High school education or equivalent experience.
- 6 months of previous B&F (Hospitality industry preferred).
- Familiarity with hospitality industry practiced preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service.
- Punctual.
- Energetic, motivated personality.
- Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate fluently in local language.
- Ability to understand and provide friendly guest service.
- Ability to understand and comply with proper set-ups, cleaning, break-down, and storage techniques and procedures.
- Ability to timely complete assigned tasks.
- Ability to timely compile facts/figures, identify and investigate issues and resolve basic matters.
- Ability to follow and appropriate course of action based on policies and procedures.
- Ability to operate a computer, calculator, phone, and other office equipment.
- Attention to detail with good organizational and efficient time management skills.
- Consistent professional attitude and behavior with effective listening and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, while remaining flexible and efficient.
- Ability to satisfy the legal requirements for employment within the jurisdiction.
