Physical Location
WFM/Virtual role with the stipulation that you should be within driving distance from one of our bases of operation for occasional team gatherings and special events, valuable equipment deliveries, etc.
- First preference: Raleigh-Durham, NC (Research Triangle)
- Secondary options: Lowell MA (Boston metro), Palm Bay-Melbourne FL, Austin TX, Tempe-Chandler AZ (Phoenix metro), San Jose CA, San Diego CA.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Provide excellent technical support throughout the customer design lifecycle with embedded real-time solutions using Renesas MPUs, tools, and design environment.
- Develop embedded applications and reference designs using Renesas MPUs to showcase the suitability of devices for different solutions, including but not limited to connectivity with TCPIP and industrial ethernet protocols, USB, CAN, SPI, UART, and I2C, motor control applications, in-field program updates using bootloaders, and low level peripheral drivers.
- Develop supporting technical documents and application notes—experience with industrial ethernet protocols such as PROFINET, EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, and motor control.
- Create custom solutions, example projects, and Proof-of-Concept (PoC) designs to win new business. Collect requirements, analyze and applicability with Renesas MPUs, and create and implement examples and PoCs without much oversight and management.
- Prepare and document system requirements, design specifications, and test plans.
- Prepare and present internal (sales and channel) and external (customer) technical training to promote and increase ease of use of Renesas MPU tools and products. Ability to explain complex technical subjects and provide solid solutions in a class or remote setting.
- Log and report MPU HW, SW, and tools issues with enough details thru internal systems to the design and development teams. Follow up with design teams on issue fixes, test, and verify timely resolution.
- Expert level C, C Python programming skills. Other programming languages and expertise in tools including GitHub, GNU GCC compliers, IAR EWARM, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, scopes, in-circuit debuggers, and emulators.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure RTOS, FreeRTOS, and Linux.
- Prior working experience as an AE in the semiconductor industry for the IIOT segment or S/W engineer in industrial automation.
Qualifications/Requirements
- 10 years of experience with the servo and drive motor control and industrial ethernet
- Demonstrated experience in developing ARM MCU/MPU-based products/systems
- Expert level C programming skills
- Experience with RTOS, drivers, and middleware integration skills for embedded MCU/MPU
- Hands-on system bring-up, testing, and debugging skills
- Experience designing or using embedded system development tools
- Excellent communications skills (written and verbal)
- Must be fluent in English
Desired Skills & Experience
- Technologies in TCP/IP, industrial ethernet protocols, motor control, security, cryptography, encryption/decryption
- Board level analog and high-speed memory design experience
- Familiarity with analog circuits design, including op-amps, DACs, ADCs
- System level design and integration tools, including schematic capture and board layout
- Prior working experience as an AE or FAE in the semiconductor industry
Education
- BSEE or MSEE degree
