What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Assistant (Hungry Valley) position at RENO-SPARKS INDIAN COLONY?
Position Summary:
The Recreation Assistant under the supervision of the Recreation Manager will assist in the daily operation of the Recreation program.
Duties:
- The Recreation Assistant will be responsible for the working the operating hours and management of the gym at night and on the weekends.
- Accountable for implementing directive(s) from Recreation Manager and/or Director related to Recreation Department activities, sports, and Community events.
- Assist in supervising temporary Recreation Aides.
- In the absence of the Recreation Manager, responsible for gym scheduling and use for various groups consistent with Recreation Department practices and policies; must inform and review with Recreation Manager, gym scheduling.
- Conduct routine inspections of recreational facilities, report maintenance issues, perform minor repair(s), carry-out periodic equipment inventories, and assist in janitorial maintenance of recreational space, gym, and its environs on a scheduled basis.
- Interprets and enforces rules of play and maintain order and discipline, ensures safety procedures are adhered to, and escort individuals off premises when necessary within department procedures to insure safety of individuals and staff.
- May be required to transport children, teens, adults to and from Recreation activities as directed. Will abide by all safe vehicle operation guidelines and laws.
- Will provide first aid and/or CPR as required and within scope of training.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be a high school graduate or possess a GED.
- Possession of a valid Nevada driver’s license without limitations, sanctions, and able to provide a clean DMV report for insurance purposes.
- Prefer knowledge with recreational programs for all age groups, i.e., games, sports, cultural awareness, arts & crafts
- Must obtain community first aid and infant/adult CPR certification within three (3) months of date of hire and maintain current certification.
- Must be self-motivated, energetic, responsible, and reliable in the performance of duties.
- Must be able to pass background check and drug test.
- Flexible work schedule and as needed with or without notice.
- Must have good communication and working skills/service; such as customer service.
- Must pass a PL101-630 Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act
Background/Character Investigation and pre-employment alcohol and drug screening.
PLEASE NOTE: hiring preference is provided to members of the Reno-Sparks Indian
Colony followed by members of other federally recognized tribes. Must pass and comply
with the HR Policy 164.905- PL101.630. Reno-Sparks Indian Colony requires any
designated candidate to complete a pre employment drug screen, criminal background
check, and confirmation of professional references.
