RenoRun was born in 2016 with the insight that contractors spend too much time away from their job sites by going to the store to procure materials. Before building out the concept, the co-founders—three construction industry veterans—would sit in different hardware store parking lots around Montreal in the winter, with Tim Horton’s coffees, and notebooks in hand. They kept count of anyone coming out in work boots, plus vans and pickup trucks, and compared notes at the end of the day. This was their “customer.”

After noticing that there were roughly 2,000 contractors per hour circulating hardware stores in Montreal, they decided to set out on a crusade to better serve them, and to unleash them from the unpleasantries that had been normalized in the construction industry.

Reporting into the Human Resources department, our Payroll Lead will partner with our Total Rewards Manager, our HR Operations team and our Culture team in helping design and create robust and dynamic payroll processes that focus on employee experience. The Payroll Lead plays a critical role in ensuring that we are leveraging technology to enable us to be fast, accurate and flex to the business needs. Beyond the traditional boundaries of Finance or HR, we want to ensure that work life is driving the greatest value for our people and for the company. You won’t just be influencing the total rewards, you’ll be influencing the culture.

***This is a hybrid role open to Chicago, Boston, Washington DC, Montreal or Toronto.***

What you’ll do:

  • Owning - You will take the reins of our payroll systems and team, and will be responsible for the scaling and continuous improvement of these systems.
  • Driving - You will be pushing the standard up by owning data analytics to recommend actions to address gaps learned from insights in addition to managing processes, platforms and tools to ensure a best in class service.
  • Partnering - You will be fully entrenched into the teams you are partnering with, understanding their needs, challenges and opportunities for development and ensuring equitable decisions aligned to total rewards philosophy.
  • Flexing - We change every minute to enable us to grow at the extraordinary rate that we do. You will need to thrive off non-stop development, progression, testing, failing, learning and improving!

What you’ll bring:

  • 5 years of experience in payroll and/or accounting roles;  
  • 3 years experience owning and developing full-cycle payroll processing;
  • An aptitude for leveraging technology for continuous improvement and optimization;
  • A desire to work cross-functionally and to partner with collaborative departments;
  • Ability to pivot - we move fast!
