RentPath (a Redfin Company) is looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our D&A team. In this role, you will develop data-driven solutions with current and next-generation technologies to meet evolving business needs while supporting data and analytics activities across the entire RentPath enterprise. You will have a broad spectrum of responsibilities ranging from data architecture and modeling to data pipeline tooling and dashboarding while working towards the organizational initiative of creating a centralized enterprise data source for reporting. You will be designing and building ETL pipelines to improve existing systems, migrating data will also be a key responsibility.

A Day in the Life

The Data Engineer will be expected to consistently deliver outcomes in the following:

• Provide business analysis and develop ETL code and scripting to meet all technical specifications and business requirements.
• Work with non-technical partners and product teams to understand their needs, gather requirements, and come up with an automated end-to-end solution.
• Translate business requirements into applicable data requirements.
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes.
• Monitor and troubleshoot existing BI applications, including frameworks and reports, to ensure the availability and optimized performance of reporting for the end-users.
• Analyze data to ensure information is accurate and reconcilable to its source of origin. Perform quality assurance testing as appropriate prior to releasing data/information/reports into production/end users.
• Identify data quality issues and their root causes. Propose fixes and design data audits.
• Build reporting and visualization solutions that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into churn rates, operational efficiency, and other key business performance metrics.

What we need from You

• Strong communication and written skills with the ability to create both business and technical documentation around data, requirements, and processes.
• Experience with an ETL solution such as Azure Data Factory, Informatica, dbt, Matillion, Talend, etc.
• Knowledge of a business intelligence solution such as PowerBI, Tableau, Sigma Computing
• Ability to develop, troubleshoot, and performance tune complex SQL queries.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Data &Analytics Stack: SSAS, SSRS, SSIS, Azure Data Factory
• Ability to complete projects and assignments timely and accurately with minimal supervision.
• Experience working with agile and sprint methodologies using Jira.
• Ability to quickly improvise and adapt with strong problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with enterprise data governance best practices.
• Nice to have: Experience with a scripting language (PHP, Perl, Python, etc.)
