Job Description
General Description
Under the day-to-day supervision of the PI, applies varying degrees of independent judgment in providing services of a technical nature to research staff. Performs routine tasks of lab maintanance, record keeping, and buffers and reagents preparation. Following written procedures and protocols, participates in the study of the thalamic organization of the primary auditory cortex of macaque, as well as in other projects.
Other Duties
- Tissue processing for histology, and quantitation of various markers.
- Collect, record, organize and verify the accuracy of data; perform calculations and prepare charts, graphs, and reports.
- Participate in laboratory meetings and planning sessions. Review literature as needed to build essential knowledge of the lab's scientific area of focus.
- Oversee day-to-day activities within the research laboratory, including such activities as maintaining inventories of chemicals and reagents, ensuring operation of essential equipment and making sure adequate supplies are available for experimental procedure
- Maintain records of hazardous materials stored in the lab
- Assist with other support duties relating to lab operations as needed.
Qualifications
An Associate’s Degree in a related field of study from an accredited institution and three (3) years experience performing technical work suitable to the technical needs of the project;
OR
An Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study from an accredited institution and one (1) year experience performing technical work suitable to the technical needs of the project;
OR
Equivalent education and experience, as evidenced in technical work assignments; however all candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent: AND • Possession of the core competencies determined to be required at the time of hire.
