The purpose of the Production Supervisor is to coordinate and facilitate direct reports in the performance of their assigned duties. The Production Supervisor ensures that company production and safety goals are met while maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
3rd Shift
JOB DUTIES:
- Coordinate, facilitate, and motivate employees in the manufacturing plant to use their highest potential, maintain positive attitudes and to ensure company and customer satisfaction.
- Manage a group of about 24 direct reports and supervise the production of low voltage cables to ensure orders are manufactured to customer specifications and met on-time delivery.
- Inform employees of policies, procedures and operational changes. Ensure compliance of those standards
- Provide coaching and mentor to employees.
- Conduct performance reviews. Put in place development programs. Evaluate and decide promotions.
- Monitor staffing level on the shift and area, open requisitions, conduct interviews and select candidates for hiring
- Responsible for maintaining compliance to safety rules, conducting safety meetings, and instructing employees on good safety habits. Lead root cause corrective actions when needed
- Initiate and attend meetings to ensure continuous improvement in tooling and work habits.
- Coordinate and guide employees’ involvement in team building, safety, quality issues and productivity.
- Consult with Engineering, Quality and HSE and Materials functions to ensure product manufacturability, minimize scrap ad maximize efficiency.
- Monitor daily reports and all factory metrics including scrap, quality, delivery, inventory, safety, cost. Lead actions/projects to improve results
- Coordinate and cooperate with all other departments and shifts.
- Maintain good housekeeping and improve safety and material flow.
- Assist with production problems, making sure tools and equipment are available.
- Initiate continuous process improvements.
- Embrace and fully implement lean manufacturing initiatives to improve efficiency and output per hour
- Train and coach team leads, material handler and direct labor in standard work
- Facilitate and direct tier meetings.
YOU MUST HAVE:
- HS Diploma or GED required,
- 5 years of similar experience (Relevant education may be substituted as appropriate)
- Broad working knowledge of logistics techniques.
- Must also occasionally lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
- Lean manufacturing skills, including such tools as 5S, root cause – corrective action analysis, practical problem-solving, PDCA
- Experience using Six-Sigma tools to drive process improvements.
- Detail oriented, with good analytical skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability, communication skills and global mindset.
- Self-motivated with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple time-sensitive tasks.
- Proficient in the following: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access, Visio.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends
