Role The Director, Project Management role is a highly customer-centric role that is an integrated leader of the Site Leadership Team in a matrix organization, partnering with the Site Head and cross-functional leaders in Manufacturing, MSAT, Commercial Development, Quality, Supply Chain, and Business Operations. The Director, Project Management (DPM) is accountable for leading a team of on-site project managers, building, and demonstrating best practices for the client-facing project management organization, and being the primary point-of-contact for the site’s clients. This role is essential to executing clinical and commercial manufacturing projects to appropriate standards and supporting company franchises and modalities. It includes coordinating a team of subject matter experts from various functional areas to track and manage their activities as assigned. The DPM’s role is to provide senior-level oversight of the day-to-day business aspects of our client-facing projects, including troubleshooting and problem-solving about project execution and performance. The Director, Project Management will also serve as the key interface between the site project managers and the Head of Project & Program Management for reporting on project metrics and status. It will also interact with Resilience clients post-contract award, ensuring client requirements are met. Providing oversight of the project managers to ensure proper methods are followed to track program costs, schedules, and performance across all projects, and to ensure our strong, transparent communications are maintained both internally and externally. Additionally, this role will support the growth of the business by working alongside the Commercial and Technical Franchise Leads, supporting customer proposal pricing and resource planning. The Director, Project Management will ultimately ensure the successful execution of our client-facing projects through close management and coordination of our project management practices and, thus the financial profitability of the RTP site. The Resilience Durham-RTP facility is a contract manufacturing site specializing in Gene Therapy (GT) manufacturing within the Resilience network. Responsibilities Reporting to the Head of Customer Project and Program Management, this individual is a critical leader in the Commercial organization with: Assignment and management of project/program managers for all client-facing projects conducted at the RTP site Oversight of Program /Project Manager execution of project requirements to ensure delivery according to internal and contractual requirements and organizational needs; ensure appropriate program/project methodologies are streamlined and followed. Manage and track all program costs, schedules, and performance against established program milestones and contractual requirements, reporting the status to management stakeholders on a regular basis Ensure project scope, schedules, and budgets are established and managed throughout all project lifecycles. Lead internal program/project reviews for the RTP site Stay informed on project actuals vs. budget to help determine pricing for future work Oversee project management input to, and financial pricing of, proposals Participate in and guide proposal negotiations Provide input regarding the alignment of proposed functional area staffing for RTP site projects vs. actuals; this includes interfacing with managers on financial, operational, and human resources issues and providing direct input/support to members of the Leadership Team. Promote and drive a culture of accountability for the RTP site PM team through effective people management, including hiring, retention, coaching, and development. Identify critical metrics to assess and measure impact and results; ensure established metrics are tracked and reported on a regular basis. Lead and oversee the project managers to ensure that they’re seen as the unequivocal leaders of their projects and teams, including taking command of all meetings and communications, playing the central role in leading project decisions, and providing the primary source of information to teammates and clients for their assigned programs. Make certain the team has the skills, resources, and necessary support to accomplish their duties according to expectations and on a timely basis Support and participate in continuous improvement activities Support, communicate, and continually reinforce the mission, values, and culture of the organization All other responsibilities as required by Management Minimum Qualification: Direct project management experience in managing complex, multiple biopharmaceutical programs Advanced understanding of the proposal life cycle in corporate environments Experience in the development, cGMP manufacturing, testing, and release operations of biologicals, pharmaceutical, or medical device products Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills Experience in managing personnel, including their development and career advancements Ability to quickly assess and identify areas of inefficiencies and provide corrective solutions Experience in overseeing a portfolio of projects and managing budgets Strong leadership, technical, communication, and organizational skills in a teamwork environment. Our target annualized base pay hiring range for this position is $170,000.00 - $230,000.00. Actual base pay is dependent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s geographical location, relevant experience, qualifications, skills and knowledge.
