Position Summary:

The Director of Operations Finance is responsible for safeguarding the Resort assets and financial resources to ensure that all are utilized to maximize profitability. The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive experience in a similar position at a premium resort property. The position will be a strategic finance business leader and will have full accountability over the accurate maintenance of financial statements and month-end close processes, and will report directly to the Sr. Director of Finance.

Job Duties:


Core Activities

  • Leads and facilitates monthly close process that ensures accurate and timely publishing of financial statements and reports.
  • Prepares monthly financial packages for senior leadership that include P&L analysis, balance sheet review, KPI metrics and financial and operational commentary
  • Develops means to improve profit, including estimating cost and benefit, exploring new business opportunities, etc.
  • Analyzes information, forecasts sales against expenses, and creates annual budget plans.
  • Owns the weekly labor management process to maximize productivity and adjust to the needs of the operation.
  • Provides analytical support during budget reviews to identify cost saving and productivity opportunities for property managers.
  • Implements a system of appropriate controls to manage business risks.
  • Ensures a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability.
  • Provides ongoing analytical support by monitoring the operating department’s actual and projected financials.
  • Understands and meets the needs of key stakeholders (owners, corporate, guests, etc.).
  • Advises the Sr. Director of Finance and Senior Leadership Team on existing and evolving operating/financial issues.
  • Communicates financial concepts in a clear and persuasive manner that is easy to understand and drives desired behaviors.
  • Accountable for the cost controllership function of ensuring that all expenses are monitored, competitively negotiated, and controlled from fraud.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of cash flow and corporate priorities.
  • Point of contact for internal audits as well as manages action plans, SOP implementations and execution
  • Communicates with vendors regarding statements and open invoices; developing vendor relationships is crucial in this role

Leadership and Coaching

  • Manages and develops a team of three finance professionals
  • Partners with Operations leaders and provides insights to improve overall financial acumen.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and accuracy in timely deliverables
  • Models and coaches other on addressing complex issues with proactive and strategic decision making
  • Supports and aligns with the culture and vision of the Resort at Pelican Hill.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

Job Requirements

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related major; 5 years experience in hospitality finance or accounting roles.
  • (Preferred) MBA or Master’s degree
  • Advanced knowledge of SAP, Excel, BI platforms, Hotel systems (PMS, POS, Sales & Catering, Payroll, etc.)
  • Strong technical acumen in managing everyday business operations including, economics, reporting and analysis, auditing and reconciliation, GAAP accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Exhibits foundational resort/hotel finance knowledge and proactively seeks training required to business problems as necessary.
  • Ideal candidates will exhibit strong leadership and interpersonal skills, are able to prioritize and adapt to changing needs of the Resort operations, have strong work ethic, good business acumen, and a passion for hospitality.
  • The role is expected to be an active participant in day-to-day finance/accounting duties and maintain complex financial models.


Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $123,400.00 - $155,500.00


Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
