Laborer (Public Works) - City of Stuart
This is NOT a day labor position. Offering permanent employment with benefits.

Rate of Pay: $13.00 per hour benefits ( $100 bonus being offered)
Location: 300 SW St. Lucie Avenue City Hall Annex Building, Stuart, FL 34994
Work Schedule: Monday -Thursday, 6:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug testing
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CLASS
Under general supervision of the Team Leader III or immediate supervisor, operates hydraulic controls of truck in the collection of residential and commercial garbage containers. Operates a variety of small equipment and drives assigned vehicles. Cleans and maintains complex areas including but not limited to tasks requiring restroom maintenance and grass cutting. Work is reviewed through observation upon work completion for compliance with work orders and established policies and procedures.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Operates various hydraulic controls of garbage containers. 2. Assists maintenance mechanic in the delivery and pickup of commercial containers. 3. Assembles and delivers refuse containers. 4. Performs general maintenance on Sanitation equipment and assigned vehicle(s). 5. Maintains city property by mowing, weed whacking and cleaning restrooms and office complex. 6. Cleans and maintains containers in a sanitary condition when removed from service. 7. Assist in collection of residential and commercial garbage. REQUIREMENTS
A. Training and Experience:
High School Diploma, Vocational Schooling or GED supplemented by six months experience with hydraulic equipment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Must possess a valid Florida Driver License.
B. Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Knowledge of occupational safety rules and practices. Ability to follow oral and basic written directions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the public. Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions. Skill in the use of tools and maintenance equipment.
C. Physical Requirements:
Task involves the regular, and at times sustained, performance of heavier physical tasks such as walking over rough or uneven surfaces, bending, stooping, working in confined spaces, and lifting or carrying moderately heavy (50 pound) items and occasionally very heavy (100 pound) items; involves the frequent use of coordination and manipulative skills in performing a variety of tasks with the full range of eye-hand coordination in power tools and shop equipment; or the skilled and complex operation of heavy equipment calling for adherence to exacting standards of depth, grade, dimensions, and contours.
D. Environmental Requirements:
Task requires that work be performed in adverse environmental conditions.
E. Sensory Requirements:
