Summary:
Analyze demand and market trends for purchasing raw materials and ingredients at optimum value, maximizing profits. Responsible for ensuring processes related to materials flow smoothly by optimizing inventories and monitoring the performance of vendors, to ensure continued quality and timely shipments in support of just-in-time processes.
Materials Planner Responsibilities:
- Plan, track, order and coordinate delivery of all raw materials for fluid, frozen, and fluid bulk tankers
- Work closely with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of purchased items
- Ensure that materials flow into the plant in a timely manner
- Analyze daily market trends through different exchanges and agencies to determine ordering and acceptable pricing
- Coordinate sale of commodities when contracted volumes are not reached
- Track tested fat and solids content of purchased cream and condensed
- Ensure that a healthy balance of raw materials is kept on hand; monitor days on hand and work with Production Planners and Sales and Marketing team on new, slow moving, and declining volume products that affect demand for materials
- Ensure formulas are updated timely and perform routine audits for accuracy
- Analyze inventories at risk of going short or out of code to limit loss
- Coordinate return shipment of materials to vendor for defective items
- Develop and provide weekly reporting on vendor metrics
- Give input to Procurement on supplier contracts
- Continually work to identify process improvements within planning and ordering
You could be a great fit if you have these things:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field with one (1) year of experience; or four (4) years of experience in procurement or material planning
- Experience in grocery retail, sales or manufacturing
- Strong communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong computer skills, especially in Microsoft office

Pay: $47,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
