What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nurse Manager; Full-Time position at Resthaven?
Resthaven is seeking a full-time nurse to provide quality direct nursing services following the resident service plan in an environment that promotes residents’ rights, dignity, freedom of choice, and person-centered care while working closely with an interdisciplinary team.
Schedule: Monday - Friday with on-call rotation
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide treatment and care following the resident service plan. Manage resident service plans
- Evaluate clinical documentation (weights, vitals, progress notes, etc.) and follow up with any clinical interventions.
- Review and complete follow up of incident reports with interdisciplinary team
- Observe and record signs, symptoms, behaviors, reactions of residents. Complete follow up as needed.
- Support compliance with established infection control procedures, universal safety precautions, and state/federal regulations.
- Accurately and promptly implements physician’s orders.
- Coordinate with pharmacy including but not limited to medication ordering, and upon their arrival, distributes them to the appropriate medication carts.
- Maintain the standards of accurate and complete recording and reporting.
- Complete rounds with physician group, and communicate with physician’s offices, home health agencies, laboratories, and families regarding health conditions/issues.
- Assists with move-ins and discharge of residents. Participates in assessment of residents for move in.
- Make report to oncoming staff regarding resident information, needs and changes in condition.
- Maintain a professional approach with confidentiality.
- Works collaboratively with interdisciplinary team employees to create a climate that promotes engagement and provides opportunities for growth, learning and job satisfaction.
- Participate in interdisciplinary on-call rotation.
- Participate in bi-annual Care Conferences with the interdisciplinary team, the resident and/or their family.
- Assumes all other position related responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer literate and familiarity with Word, Excel and Email.
- Demonstrated clinical competencies.
- Communicates effectively and tactfully, while recognizing age, cultural orientation, needs, abilities and physical condition, while using dementia specific interventions when appropriate.
- Ability to display a sense of caring, concern, compassion and dignity for residents.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with residents, families, visitors, and employees.
- Well organized and attentive to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time productively.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment including fax, calculator, telephone, copier, etc.
- Reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills.
- Is resourceful and calm in emergent situations.
Education, Training, Experience:
- Graduations from an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing or Registered Nurse Program.
- Successful completion of the National Association LPN or RN state boards.
- Previous nursing experience preferred, especially with the elderly population.
- Meet on-going requirements to maintain current nursing license. Assumes responsibility for own continued personal and professional growth.
- Attends all required in-service training and departmental meetings.
Required Licenses, Registration, and/or Certifications:
- Possession of a current license from the Michigan Board of Nursing to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse.
