Job Summary
The Director of Operations and Community Life serves as “second chair” to the Overland Park Location Pastor and plays a versatile role in the fulfillment of the church’s purpose at its Overland Park location. Primary responsibilities include: 1) Support the Location Pastor as a partner by leading a variety of delegated location-based initiatives and assignments. 2) Act as the lead ambassador for the Guest Experience at the location by elevating the church’s experience standards and ensuring improvements where needed. 3) Provide key operational support for leaders serving at the location, particularly for large-scale initiatives. 4) Oversee the implementation of identified policies, protocols, and safety procedures at the location.

Position-Specific
- Support the Overland Park Location Pastor’s success by providing general administration and coordination for ministries held at the Overland Park location and facilitating the strategy and by implementation of assigned initiatives in the Location Pastor’s focus areas, namely: evangelism and outreach, connections and reconnections, congregational care and leadership development. Key examples:
- Serve as the point person for location-initiated efforts, including serving as the liaison for the RXP division through all phases of event planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Lead meetings with Impact Team members to foster cross-ministry coordination, successful program implementation and the success of location-specific priorities.
- Assist the Location Pastor in forecasting growth, anticipating challenges and forecasting resource needs.
- Provide for office coordination and maintain the location master calendar.
- Oversee the submission, monitoring and oversight of the Overland Park location’s spending budget.
- Approve any third-party facility usage requests for the location and administer any parking or facility leases and rental arrangements, in accordance with the church’s facility usage standards.
- When requested, represent the Overland Park Location Pastor in meetings with leaders across the church.
- Uphold and elevate the location’s efforts to create a frictionless experience that supports individuals along their engagement journey from being non-religious or nominally religious toward becoming a deeply committed Christian. Key examples:
- In partnership with the Director of Guest Experience, raise awareness of the church’s Guest Experience standards and provide training and consistent implementation at the Overland Park location.
- Provide essential oversight of the implementation of Guest Experience standards for persons who engage in worship services and all events, programs, and encounters held at Overland Park.
- Maintain and communicate assessments against the Guest Experience standards, highlighting successes and take any steps necessary to initiate improvements, where needed, including convening meetings across all divisions and levels to ensure appropriate organizational leadership is applied to address concerns and support the Guest Experience.
- Offer supportive assistance, when needed, for major events held at the location and for the Business Operations division.
- Help location-based ministry leaders in KiDSCOR, Rez Life, Adult Discipleship, Missions and Worship contextualize their events, including anticipating and finding solutions to challenges within Overland Park’s unique operational environment.
- Serve as a hands-on leader, when needed, to support the success of programs held at Overland Park.
- Elevate questions and concerns from the location to ensure operational matters are receiving appropriate organizational attention and collaboratively partner with leaders across the organization to implement solutions to operational challenges.
- Work with the church’s Business Operations and other centralized teams to initiate and coordinate support and serve as an onsite resource, when needed.
- Implement and oversee policies and safety and security protocols at the Overland Park location, with guidance from the Director of Safety, Security and Risk Management. Examples include:
- Participate in the church-wide Safety and Security Forum, providing insights from the location and contributing to church’s overall improvement as a consistently safe and secure environment.
- Foster adherence to church policies and procedures and facilitate their implementation.
- Facilitate the presence of trained safety and security leaders at the Overland Park location.
- Participate in periodic safety and security assessments and ensure preparedness and training is in place, including regular contact with local emergency professionals.
- Ensure completion of incident reports.

Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- 3 years of management experience, with proven results in financial management, operations and/or logistics.
- Flexible, dedicated, dependable, and highly motivated.
- Excellent communication skills and able to effectively communicate both interpersonally and in front of large groups.
- Physical requirements: moderate physical activity including the lifting and moving items up to 30 pounds.
