Retail Business Services, ranked No. 25 on Fast Company’s 2022 100 Best Workplaces for Innovators, is the services company of leading grocery retail group Ahold Delhaize USA, which includes Food Lion, Giant Food, The GIANT Company, Hannaford and Stop & Shop.
The opportunity:
Retail Business Services, the services company of leading omnichannel grocery retail group Ahold Delhaize USA and No. 25 on Fast Company’s list of Best Places to Work for Innovators, is seeking a User Experience Designer II.
Join our growing practice and immerse yourself in the world of human-centric design. Our team is on a mission to create a future where human-centricity is the heartbeat of the leading local grocery brands’ ’food shopping experience, with the belief that every business problem is a human problem.
As a User Experience Designer II, you’ll draw on your expertise in design thinking, service design, information architecture, interaction design, and visual design to enhance holistic experiences across a portfolio of products and services.
People will be at the center of your every day work. By engaging with users and collaborating closely with stakeholders, your ability to listen, empathize, and understand their needs will be the driving force behind satisfying end-user experiences.
In this role, you'll embark on a journey of discovery, framing problems with your creative and analytical thinking. You'll utilize research, data, and industry best practices to make informed design decisions. You will deeply understand and champion the needs of our end users – people.
If you're excited to design best-in-class experiences on a team that values your skills and growth, we can't wait to meet you.
Who you are:
• You are insatiably curious, positively resilient, intentionally inclusive, and unapologetically creative. You do the right thing and know how to put fun in scope.
• You’re a born detective with design chops for days, a storyteller, an end-to-end thinker, a problem-solver who can untangle complexity to create something that works.
• You have a bachelor’s degree in UX/UI Design or a relevant field (equivalent certifications from an accredited program in UX/UI, human-computer interaction, information science, digital media, product design, or on-the-job experience will be considered).
• You are a staff designer with three or more years of relevant work experience with design, project management, and development processes, including Agile/Scrum.
• You facilitate workshops and have a knack for gaining consensus among large, diverse groups.
• You more than know your way around collaborative design and prototyping tools, such as Mural, Miro, Figma, InVision, Sketch and Adobe Creative Suite.
• You have (and can’t wait to share) in-depth knowledge of design research methods, user interface models, application design, and website functionality.
• You’ve tamed the Format Pane in the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel, and know which tool is best when sharing ideas with different groups.
• You know enough about front-end languages (like HTML), computer-information systems, data-analysis fundamentals and data-visualization tools (like Power BI) to hold up your end of a conversation with engineers and analysts.
Key Skills:
UX Design principles and deliverables, including human-centered approaches, collaboration, generative user research methods, user personas, service blueprints, information architecture, prototyping, knowledge of product development lifecycle, and results orientation.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in relevant field of study
• Additional trainings or certifications in relevant field of study
• One or more years of on-the-job experience in Agile teams and/or product design
• Experience in retail or grocery
