Job Summary:

REV Renewables is looking for a Compliance Officer to join our team. This position reports to the General Counsel and will be responsible for developing and promoting a culture of compliance within the company. This position is responsible for developing a Regulatory Compliance Program for the company and will work closely with leadership, and their employees, to build and implement a robust and compliance culture. This position will work with multiple departments to review and assess practices and strategies to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory authorities.

Job Functions:

  • Develop and implement Regulatory Compliance Program.
  • Work with trading and operations (related to FERC-jurisdictional markets and Renewable Energy Credits) to advise on ethics and compliance issues and to facilitate creation of a robust ethical and compliance culture.
  • Conduct proactive compliance assessments of trading activity and strategies in order to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations enacted by the external regulatory authorities (i.e. FERC, RTO/ISOs, and Renewable Energy Credit markets).
  • Monitor developments of new regulatory requirements and proposals and analyze potential impacts upon Company activities.
  • Educate Company staff on regulatory and compliance requirements and standards and procedures related to trading compliance.
  • Implement and oversee annual and ad-hoc trainings to facilitate compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Work with Risk, Trading and Legal departments to initiate, implement, assess effectiveness and create and identify improvements to internal controls relating to areas regulated by governmental agencies – FERC and RTO/ISO experience are particularly valuable.
  • Actively promote a collaborative relationship between Company Commercial and Legal staff to facilitate strategic alignment and appropriate involvement of Legal in compliance matters, including interpretation of applicable laws and regulations (including analyzing impact of new or revised laws and regulations on the compliance program).
  • Oversee or participate in government investigations and inquiries.
  • Document Regulatory Compliance Program – establish, maintain, and update written regulatory compliance program documentation (policies and records) for assigned areas of responsibility.

Education/Experience:

  • At least 5 years’ experience in FERC and ISO/RTOs, with particular emphasis on compliance, trading/operations or legal matters.
  • Experience with transaction monitoring and/or trading in energy markets preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to understand and apply complex legal and regulatory concepts, and explain to personnel and stakeholders.
  • Strong oral, presentation and written communication skills, with ability to apply to all Company levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, capable of handling a variety personnel to achieve results in what may be difficult situations.
  • Strong work ethic and a hands-on approach.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with ability to see the next step and follow through on operational detail.
  • Ability to build consensus among diverse stakeholders.
