WHY THIS ROLE IS VALUABLE 

The AVP, Property Claims role is part of  Revantage’s North America Risk Management Claims Team  with a specific focus on large property claim preparation and analysis within Gryphon Mutual, Blackstone Real Estate’s captive insurance company.

The role is focused on large property claims, including the preparation of claims information from multiple stakeholders including Revantage, Blackstone, Gryphon, and Blackstone’s portfolio companies. The role has exposure to both the insurance and real estate sectors. AVP, Property Claims assists the team with the management, investigation, and resolution of claims, ensuring a high quality work product.

This position is based out of Revantage’s locations in Chicago, IL.

Responsibilities

HOW YOU ADD VALUE

 

  • Asisst in driving  the strategy for Property Claims by communicating clear goals and objectives, and ensuring alignment with broader Revantage and Blackstone financial goals
  • Assist in leading effectively with internal and external stakeholders including existing policyholders, the business community and governmental agencies, to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards
  • Manage financial results, including reserve adequacy and litigation management for Property Claims team
  • Oversee the end-to-end claims handling process for property insurance claims. This includes receiving, investigating, evaluating, and settling claims in accordance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the highest levels of claims handling and customer service
  • Review insurance policy contracts to determine the scope of coverage for property claims, clarifying any ambiguities or coverage issues with relevant parties as needed.
  • Collaborate with impacted underwriting segments and actuarial teams regarding claim activities and trends as well as product development, supporting and partnering in overall business strategies and goals

  • Ensure that significant exposures are timely recognized, elevated and overseen by the appropriate staff with commensurate skills
  • Establish timely evaluation and analysis of coverage, liability and damages for claims handled by teams
  • Drive high quality claim results and service
  • Manager the captive claims reporting and dashboards

Qualifications

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Accounting, (Computational/Quantitative) Finance, Economics or related field required
  • Minimum 5 years' insurance, risk and/or third-party property claims experience
  • Minimum 3 years' experience overseeing property claims
  • Demonstrable and current in-depth knowledge and understanding of the real estate industry
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities to assess complex property damage scenarios and make sound claims decisions.
  • Proficiency in claims management software and tools for efficient claims processing.
  • Understanding of insurance industry regulations and compliance requirements related to property claims.
  • Customer-focused mindset, with a commitment to delivering exceptional service to policyholders.
  • Excellent communication (verbal & written), numerical, presentation & organizational skills
  • Strong leadership/teamwork skills
  • Effective reasoning and decision-making skills
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, and follow up in a timely manner
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

Preferred:

  • Relevant professional designation (e.g. CPCU, ARM)
  • Juris Doctorate
