Job Description

The Operations Manager will work under minimal supervision, independently oversee and manage a fast-paced operational location. Some major areas of responsibility will encompass the management of fleet, drivers, route planning, reporting, and safety compliance. This position is partly hands-on and physically demanding while administrative duties are remote. This is an opportunity for a well-qualified individual due to the flexibility of reshaping the internal operational structure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Onboard drivers including verification of documents, distribute uniforms, perform road tests, and assign equipment.
  • Review daily dispatch schedules and adjust where needed for efficient and on-time deliveries.
  • Clear, management-style communication to effectively coach drivers. 
  • Enforce operation processes and procedures in accordance with the standards set out by the organization. Optimize policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with operation management to effectively operate the company.
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Partner with Operations Director on long-term goals and objectives to meet company goals exceed profitability margins and growth objectives.
  • Manage compliance within DOT and FMCSA regulations.
  • Proactively communicate with vendors and customers. Build and strengthen business relationships and represent the company as the main point of contact.
  • Produce timely results pertaining to weekly reporting; collaborate with the corporate team on related projects.
  • Hire, train, and appraise drivers. Consult with Human Resources as appropriate to take corrective action when necessary.
  • Maintain good rapport with the entire workforce.
  • Cover routes as a delivery driver when required.

Requirements:

  • Clean driving record and valid driver's license 
  • Valid Medical Card
  • Proactive self-starter; must be able to work independently
  • Positive attitude, assertive, effective, and professional
  • General knowledge of general HR laws
  • Dedicated; must possess good work ethics
  • Ability to multi-task and adjust to current business needs daily
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have moderate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Suite
  • At least 3 years of delivery or similar industry experience
  • Some college preferred
