Job Summary:
The Food Scientist (Regulatory Specialist)-Qualification is responsible for managing and overseeing the qualification of suppliers and services, including requalification and disqualification. This role ensures that all materials and services meet regulatory requirements, quality standards, and customer expectations. The position coordinates and collaborates with cross-functional teams to successfully execute the qualification process from concept to launch, and will also manage programs such as Kosher, FSVP, Supplier Questionnaire, and assist with change control and virtual audit program.
Job Responsibilities
Collaborate with R&D, purchasing, quality control, and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with applicable food safety and quality standards.
Manage project timelines and milestones to ensure timely completion of qualification activities.
Develop mitigation strategies to address potential challenges in the qualification process.
Coordinate and lead cross-functional project teams, providing clear direction and ensuring effective communication.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with external partners, such as suppliers and service providers (Co-manufacturer/ Storage Facility/ Co-packer).
Monitor and analyze data from SCAR entries to identify trends, troubleshoot issues, and recommend improvements.
Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation to support virtual supplier audits and regulatory submissions.
Serve as a PCQI, conduct risk assessments of raw material/ ingredients, and provide evaluation guidance.
Managing Supplier Questionnaire Program:
Request, save and review missing documentation and qualification packet such as RMVQ, FVQ, etc. that are more than 3 years.
Communicate with supplier for improvement opportunities.
Managing supplier qualification program for RFI LLC.
Qualification of RFI suppliers including but not limited to ingredients, co-packers, co-manufacturers, and storage facilities, third party labs, packaging, outsourcing service. And maintain the Master log.
For new ingredients, coordinating with Application scientist for document review and qualification testing when the project is ready to move forward) and continue with remaining levels of qualifications. For an alternative supplier, handling all levels of qualifications.
Maintain and update qualification template.
Prepare qualification report with approval/ dis-approval decision.
Conduct disqualification according to supplier grading result.
Assist in supplier qualification related program planning and design, including but not limited to virtual audit program.
Managing Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) of RFI, LLC.
Coordinate with other quality management for supplier doc review, conducting audit, and approval process.
Managing Kosher program, including but not limited to Kosher certification application, renewal, hosting the audit and fulfilling the corrective actions.
Assist in Change Control Program: evaluating the suitability of alternative material.
Technical support to internal and external customers including but not limited to filling Customer questionnaire and their inquiries.
Use of software such Genesis for nutritional and supplements facts design
Label review for new product and reformulate products.

Strong problem solving and analytical abilities, with attention to detail.
Trained in Food Safety.
Education & Experience
MS in related field or BS
Experience in food science or food safety related fields, Food/DS regulatory preferred.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and quality standards (e.g., FDA, HACCP, HARPC, GMP)
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Certified PCQI.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
