The Associate Director, Retrocession manages a team of associates performing retrocession policy administration and consolidation tasks. Serves as a business lead on Operations initiatives. Maintains sufficient controls to ensure timeliness and accuracy of policy information and premium payments to retrocessionaires. Contributes to the financial soundness by overseeing that all assumed risks which exceed the company’s retention limits are properly retroceded according to the treaty provisions. Performs managerial duties, and develops and mentors associates. Responsible for specific systems used for retrocession administration, billing, and data analysis including managing ongoing maintenance, system enhancements and vendor relationships.
Responsibilities
- Directs the activities of the retrocession administration department to assure timely and accurate retention management, including retro policy administration, premium payments, treaty compliance and financial reporting.
- Serves as a business lead on Operations initiatives.
- Ensures the effectiveness of Retrocession Administration by producing exception reports and monitoring the quality and quantity of information received from the assumed client company and the information sent out to the
- Works with all departments in the Shared Services organization and the US Operations division as well as other departments to identify and resolve problems/issues. Develops relationships with retrocessionaires and seeks resolutions to limit exposure per insured and ensure compliance with retro
- Leads and manages the activities of department management in all aspects of supervisory duties, including, but not limited to hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplining direct reports. Fosters a positive and engaged work Mentors associates and gives guidance on associate development.
- Serve as system owner for specific systems used for retrocession administration, billing, and data analysis including managing ongoing maintenance, system enhancements and vendor relationship.
- Manages department within budget guidelines.
- Manages completion of special projects as they arise and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related work experience 8 years’ experience in insurance/reinsurance related experience and 5 years’ management/supervisory experience
Preferred:
- FLMI, ARA or other relevant professional designation Reinsurance Industry Knowledge
