Responsibilities
This postion assists with the day-to-day operations of the Building Operations department. Performs minor carpentry and maintenance projects. Performs daily inspections of the interior and exterior of the facility and reports problems and/or safety hazards to the Facility Manager or Director. Performs Weekly, monthly, and annual safety/regulatory checks and completes forms. Assists with snow removal from walkways and parking lots around the facility.
Primary Duties, Responsibilities or Activities required by Job:
- Performs general repair and maintenance work including painting and other miscellaneous tasks.
- Observes, records, and brings to management’s attention, equipment malfunctions.
- Maintains all records and logs that are required and record information in the appropriate locations.
- Assists in all phases of the business unit’s functions.
- Assists in the relocation of office furniture and fixtures.
- Conducts complete building inspections and informs appropriate staff of unsafe or hazardous conditions.
- Respond to Facility email requests daily.
- Repair minor plumbing problems.
- Oversee and perform maintenance at fixed site locations.
- Oversee all the PM’s of the fire extinguishers
- Assist in the care and maintenance of company vehicles and equipment PM’s (oil changes, gas, service, etc.)
- Required to share in the on-call rotation.
- Back-up to the Maintenance Coordinator / Manager as the need occurs.
- Responsible for snow removal and landscaping as required.
- Day-to-day management of infectious waste to include collecting all infectious waste and distributing clean bins to departments.
- Performs daily inspections of the interior and exterior of the facility and reports problems and/or safety hazards to the Director of Facilities and Procurement.
- Assists with remodeling and/or maintenance projects as requested.
Other Secondary Functions:
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and building by maintaining outside landscaping and company grounds.
- Monitor parking garage (includes monitoring employee parking).
- Conference Room set up and occasional moving of company furniture.
- Change light bulbs throughout building area.
- Painting and construction projects as assigned.
- Assist all departments in their daily maintenance as needed.
- Assist in warehouse as needed.
- Work on special projects as needed.
- Attend safety and training meetings as required.
- Perform other maintenance duties as required
- Assists with snow removal from all walkways and parking lots.
- Assists with special projects as directed by Real Estate dept.
- May oversee the fleet maintenance schedule.
- Any related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Minimum Education & Experience:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Related Experience
One year of experience in a trade or general building maintenance work
Any combination of education, training and experience that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred Qualifications:
Education: College or Trade school preferred
Experience: • Prefer an individual with experience in basic maintenance and repair work in a commercial setting.
Required Licenses/Certification:
Valid Driver’s License required.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge:
Knowledge of building operations required. Working knowledge with construction and plumbing tools.
Knowledge of a variety of software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
Knowledge of applicable OSHA regulations.
Skills:
Attention to detail in all work processes.
Cultural competency and the ability to communicate effectively in a culturally sensitive manner with both individuals and groups from diverse background
Abilities
Ability to perform basic carpentry and facility maintenance
Ability to operate hand and power tools properly and safely.
Ability to work independently
Ability to be responsive and available to management to address issues and concerns as they arise.
Ability to communicate clearly, both in writing and verbally, to others in one-on-one.
Ability to interact with customers one to one or in large groups
Excellent oral, written and presentation skills are mandatory
Ability to work independently with remote supervision.
The proposed hourly wage for this position is $21.40. Offers made to an individual candidate will depend on a variety of factors, including experience, skills, and job-related education.
