The operations lead is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of blood collection activities to ensure donor and product safety, excellent customer service, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).  This role will lead activities (i.e., open/close, staff assignments, QC, donor screening, phlebotomy, automation,) at fixed sites or mobile operations.

Responsibilities

The operations lead is responsible for the efficient and effective operation of blood collection activities to ensure donor and product safety, excellent customer service, and adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).  This role will lead activities (i.e., open/close, staff assignments, QC, donor screening, phlebotomy, automation,) at fixed sites or mobile operations.

 

  • Performs all duties and responsibilities of a Donor Care Technician I-III.
  • Analyze donor data and determine optimal product collections on appropriate instruments.
  • Conducts Donor Care Technician training for new and newly promoted staff.
  • Participates in employee audits.
  • Performs on going competency assessment, including retraining.
  • Provides technical coaching to staff.   
  • Trouble shoot equipment/computer issues at on site or mobiles.
  • Effectively manage blood collection process to ensure optimal donor flow/staff utilization and that all blood collection activities take place in accordance with SOPs.
  • Plan staff assignments, breaks, and lunches per department standards and donor needs.
  • Ensure appropriate handling of blood collections.

 

Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

 

Related Experience

Two or more years in health care or customer service experience in a blood center, plasma center, or other highly regulated environment. Successful completion of Donor Care Technician levels I-III.

 

Any combination of education, training and experience that has supplied the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience to perform the essential functions of the job.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.                         

Experience 3–6-month experience in a lead or supervisor role preferred.

Phlebotomy, Nursing and/or Medical Assistant Certificate or EMT-Preferred.

 

Schedule: 

Minimum of 32 hours per week per week flexing up to 40. 

Varied work schedule. 

Applicants must have a reliable vehicle. Travel primarily throughout the Metro-West area along with Norfolk, Worcester and Middlesex counties is required.

 

 

The proposed hourly wage for this position is $27.66/hour to $29.00/hour.
