TECHSVCS-Technical Services Chemist

POSITION PURPOSE:
Receives, investigates and documents technical complaints. Assists Sales/Marketing in developing new products, performing literature searches and improving processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

• Write, revise and maintain data and instructions pertaining to purchased goods and finished products in Chempax.
• Write, enter and maintain Master Product, Product-Packaging, and Product-Packaging- Warehouse information.
• Write, enter and maintain Formulation/Routing instructions for finished goods.
• Write technical documents: Compose and revise RICCA CHEMICAL COMPANY product labels, ensuring that all internal and external requirements are met, product Certificates of Analysis and Technical Reference Documents.
• Quality Assurance testing: Arrange for testing of products or raw materials by outside testing laboratories (including customer testing of private labeled products as required).
• Maintain testing records for required periodic High Purity Deionized Water system testing.
• Manage and document stability studies as required. Coordinate or perform testing as needed for non-conformance investigation or product development activities.
• Assist with technical support by answering customer technical questions via phone, email, etc., in a timely, accurate and professional manner with the goal of maintaining or enhancing customer satisfaction with RICCA CHEMICAL COMPANY Technical Service and products.
• Receive, investigate and document technical complaints.
• Assist Sales/Marketing in developing new products, performing literature searches and process capability analysis as needed.
• Coordinate and evaluate scheduled Round Robin testing.
• Maintain customer change notification.
• Conduct and document Internal Audits.
• Coordinate QA inspections of incoming materials, arranging for inside or outside testing as required. (This does not include routine receiving inspections performed by Shipping/Receiving personnel.)
• Any other tasks deemed necessary.

• Previous word processing experience is required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor of Arts or Science in Chemistry or closely-related field.
• Previous experience in manufacturing or testing chemical solutions is desirable.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, including experience with PowerPoint with the ability to create presentations and summarize.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and with the team with strong follow through.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Organizational skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The physical environment may require the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. This position may be working in the warehouse under various indoor environmental conditions, including supplemental heating in the winter months and without air-conditioning in the summer months. May be requested to work overtime and weekends. The position may occasionally be exposed to ruptured, leaking packages, some of which may contain Hazardous Materials. Where appropriate, proper safety equipment should be utilized and/or appropriate personnel notified. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials and chemicals. This job may require lifting of up to 50 pounds occasionally.
