JOB SUMMARY: |
Under the direction of the Sheriff and Jail Administration, the Jail Sergeant is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and directing correctional personnel, and assuring the implementation and compliance of jail policies, procedures, and rules. The Jail Sergeant is responsible for assuring and maintaining jail security, proper intake processes, sanitation, and safety procedures, as well as assisting with the training of new correctional personnel. The Jail Sergeant is responsible for reporting, handling, and initiating emergency procedures within both Rice County’s facilities, as well as providing jail assistance to Jail Administration concerning personnel actions. The Jail Sergeant will be included in minimum staffing levels in the jail and will assume a shift in the jail in the event of a staff shortage. |
- Administers, directs, and supervises the security of the facility in accordance with Federal, State, and Local laws.
- Supervises staff in the performance of their duties at both of the County’s Jail Facilities.
- Organizes, recommends, and executes required activities such as policies and procedures, staffing plans, and general administrative tasks.
- Maintains open and effective communication with the courts, community corrections, and other branches of law enforcement
- Maintains ongoing relationships and communication with vendors to ensure delivery of high quality services and/or product.
- Possesses an exceptional working knowledge of all necessary computer software programs.
- Manages jail financial operations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

HOURS: Full Time. Rotating shift basis, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week |
Salary : $32 - $45
