Software Engineer

The primary responsibility of a Software Engineer is to utilize a variety of programming languages to write software applications for internal and external customers. 

 Skills and Abilities Required:

• Writes organized and concise programming functions that are designed for a single purpose
• Works with a team of software, electrical, and test engineers to validate functionality
• Creates unit tests to validate own software
• Understands regulatory institutions and creates code that abides by these rules
• Consistently provides excellent customer service for internal customers like Product Management and Sales Engineers as well as excellent customer service for external customers when writing programs directly for them
• Provides test plans and thoroughly tests own software to those plans before passing to Software Test Engineers
• Has excellent Technical Writing skills to complete concise but thorough emails, task lists, software specifications, and technical manuals
• Has a positive, optimistic attitude that brings solutions
• May be asked to travel to customer sites for troubleshooting software on rare occasions
• May be asked to train customers or other internal salespeople or service on new software products

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
• Experience with C . 
• Candidates with experience writing firmware for microprocessors or micro controls preferred.

• Familiarity with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer review
• Organized and concise coding style
• Strong software debugging and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to write software specifications with the help of sales and customers
• Ability to analyze and understand existing software
• Effective communication skills (verbal and written), including the ability to talk to sales, customers, and testers.
• Exceptional customer service skills and patience
• Positive attitude and ability and willingness to have fun
