Job Purpose

Responsible for answering dispatch calls, verifying trailer numbers, entering in Bill of Lading information, ETA to destination and setting Projected Times of Availability (PTA). Responsible for the management of 50 drivers on my driver board, making sure they run their expected miles per week/month/year. On weekends, I assist in watching load boards and do what I can to ensure that all load deliver on-time and notify the appropriate department of any delays.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Enter Bill of Lading information, ETAs, PTAs, and Trailer numbers daily.
• Follow procedure in letting the appropriate department know of any delays.
• Assist other driver managers/dispatchers as needed.
• Keep a record of company truck mileages every week that are driven by a company driver.
• Ensuring that no loads are showing late, and if they ARE late, notifying the appropriate department or person as per company procedure.
• Make daily check calls on every driver on my board, and assist other driver managers/dispatchers in making their check calls.
• Assist Load Planners/Coordinators when requested or needed.
• Complete any additional reports or forms when requested by any management personnel.
• Keep up with how many hours a driver has to drive daily and weekly. (11 and 70)
• Keep myself groomed and keep a professional look at all times when on the clock and in the office.
• If questioned, always answer honestly, even if said issue is at my fault.
• Always have a positive attitude, and promote a positive work environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in a pressured environment and keep constant communication with load planners/coordinators and management.
• Ability to answer incoming dispatch calls quickly, and complete the dispatch call quickly and efficiently, whilst entering all correct and needed information.
• Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
• Proficient with McLeod database, and knowing how to build Manifests. Ability to split loads according to delivery times.
