Skagway is a small gold rush town in Southeast Alaska that is home to the White Pass Railway. During the summer months, cruise ships bring in as many as 10,000 passengers a day. These tourists come to see the natural beauty of Alaska as well as the historic charm offered by the gold rush era buildings in the town. There are also many excursions that locals and visitors can enjoy including hiking whale watching, and day trips into Canada. We do offer employee housing as places to stay are extremely limited. The 2024 cruise ship season is April 26 to October 23 and employees are expected to stay.
Having fond memories of vacations with loved ones is an important part of travel. Whether it’s celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or “just because”, vacationers want to take home souvenirs that bring them back to an amazing experience or location. Or perhaps they want to have a delicious coffee, tasty popcorn, or are bringing a part of their experience home to share with others.
The Gift Shop Supervisor is a key component in motivating the employees to find that “just right” souvenir for each guest and making those connections and memories.
Responsibilities:
- Assists employees in everyday duties.
- Develop schedules for employees and monitor hours.
- Oversee opening and closing, including transactions and accountability using the software, Square.
- Inventory management
- Generating maximum sales while providing excellent customer service and work environment.
- Maintain records, reports, logs, and files in accordance with company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Responsible for the overall display and presentation of the products in the store including stocking, and replenishing merchandise.
- Keep work areas organized, clean, and sanitized.
