Ricoh are currently recruiting for a Data Scientist - AI based in Birmingham.
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist / Researcher to specialise in Large Language Model (LLM) post-training techniques to join our dynamic team at RICOH Spaces. In this role, you will be at the forefront of integrating advanced AI capabilities into our workplace experience products, utilising the latest advancements in LLM post-training to create innovative features that redefine how organisations interact with their work environments.

What you will be doing
Research & Development
- Explore and implement the latest advancements in LLM post-training techniques, including fine-tuning, prompt engineering, and reinforcement learning.
- Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept models to demonstrate the potential of LLM enhancements in workplace applications.
Product Integration
- Collaborate with the design team, product managers and engineers to integrate AI features into RICOH Spaces products.
- Ensure seamless deployment of AI models within the existing technology stack, optimising for performance and scalability.
Data Analysis & Modeling
- Analyse datasets to inform model training and feature development.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate model performance, making iterative improvements as necessary.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand user needs, viable opportunities and to translate them into technical requirements.
- Present findings and insights to stakeholders, effectively communicating complex technical concepts in an understandable manner.
Stay Current with Industry Trends
- Keep abreast of the latest research and developments in LLMs and AI.
- Adopt a continuous improvement mindset and not only learn about the latest advancements but look to implement them into viable product features and to upskill the wider team on the latest AI trends
You will ideally have
- Preferred Master's or Ph.D. in Mathematics, Physics, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science or a related field OR demonstrable practical experience in the field.
- Expertise and practical experience in at least one of natural language processing (NLP), Computer Vision (CV) or Reinforcement Learning.
- Understanding of LLM post-training techniques, including fine-tuning and reinforcement learning.
- Solid programming skills in Python and familiarity with ML frameworks like PyTorch or Tensorflow.
- Experience with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation metrics.
- Proven track record of applying LLMs solutions to real-world problems, preferably in a product development context.
- Experience working in agile development environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
