IMMEDIATE OPENINGS IN ALL AREAS! No experience required, but prior in-home care experience a plus. Homemaker/companions start at $10-$12 per hour and can be making $15 per hour within 90 days. What You’ll Do and Who You Are:
The good news is that your training will teach you everything you need to know to succeed on the job as a Caregiver. But there are a few character traits you should have from the get-go. We have a great work culture at Right at Home and look for people with a similar mindset:
You’re the honest, likable, energetic and approachable type, and are able to get along and communicate easily with people at all levels. You listen well, have great decision making skills and are passionate about your customer focus. You’re never short of a smile and take real pride in your work by being resourceful, accountable, adaptable and you cope well under pressure, take initiative and thrive on a challenge.
You don’t mind getting a little dirty … this could include (but is not limited to) providing assistance with eating, personal hygiene, light housekeeping, laundry and other household chores.
You don’t have to be a gourmet chef but you can prepare a good meal and work your way around a kitchen.
You are able to assist the client in many ways—this could include (but is not limited to) providing medication reminders, assisting with prescribed range-of-motion exercises, dementia care, and companionship activities such as reading, music, puzzles, etc.
Must Haves:
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance
- Must have a high school diploma or GED
- Must have the ability to pass a full employment background check
Nice to Have’s:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) license is preferred
- 6 months of experience as a Personal Care Assistant in healthcare preferred
- 1-3 years of experience as a Caregiver/Home Health Aide in healthcare (in homes or facilities)

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Customer Focus:
- Performs homemaking activities contained in the Client Home Record, which may include but are not limited to vacuuming, dusting, sweeping or mopping floors, doing dishes, changing bed linens, laundry, and cleaning bathrooms in ways that provide satisfaction and extraordinary results. However, during each work shift, the Homemaker/Companion must spend less than 20% of his or her time on general household work
- Prepares meals and snacks for client according to client/family and supervisor’s instructions.
- May perform grocery shopping, if prearranged with the office
- Establishes “partner” relationships with the client by providing companionship during activities such as accompanying client on walks, trips to social/recreational activities, assistance with hobbies, etc.

- Builds and maintains trusting relationships with clients
- Warm, sensitive, compassionate, and puts clients at ease
- The Homemaker/Companion performs companionship activities, meal preparation, and limited light housekeeping tasks for clients in their residences.

- Always looks for a way to improve how they perform their job and make the lives of their clients better

- Performs work under the supervision of the Staffing Coordinator/Operations Manager
- Effectively completes written documentation of service provided, using the Client Care Record
- Immediately reports any changes in the client

- Communicates crucial details regarding the client’s care, in clear and simple terms
- Keeps Right at Home and all applicable parties informed
- The Homemaker should not contact the physician directly, but rather refer all questions or reports to the nursing supervisor or appropriate party
Adaptability:
- Adjusts quickly to changing priorities and client needs
- Approaches stubborn or uncooperative clients with patience and flexibility
- Not rigid in emotional or personal capacities
First Impression:
- Creates positive first impressions through appropriate body language, eye contact, posture, voice qualities, and attire
- Does not let personal issues get in the way of professional responsibilities
- Professional and kind in demeanor and approach
The Homemaker/Companion will NOT perform any of the following:
- Personal care services such as bathing, dressing, and shaving
- Any heavy lifting or transferring of clients.
- Administering of any medications, ointments, eye drops, etc.
- Heavy-duty household chores such as washing walls, waxing floors, washing windows, etc.
- Household repairs or maintenance
- Cutting of the fingernails or toenails of any client
- A Homemaker/Companion must not provide any medical, nursing or skilled services to clients
