Classroom Responsibilities:
You will be a responsible for being a substitute when a classroom is missing their daily teacher. You will create a welcoming environment that promotes physical, social, emotional and educational growth. Depending on the age group you work with, you may be responsible for creating last minute curriculum, doing artwork, standing or sitting for extended amounts of time, working with varying cultures, changing diapers, feeding children and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Each school has a different culture and varying procedures so you must be flexible when partnering with outside directors, families, children and existing teams.
Expectations:
- Arrive to the preschool site on time and with a smile.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with directors, families, children and existing teams
- Deliver developmentally appropriate interactions and learning environment that supports children’s learning and growth.
- Implement and provide classroom curriculum and lesson plans as required or requested
- Ensures policy and regulation compliance of Title 5 and Title 22 Community Care Licensing regulations, Head Start, Early Head Start, and/or California Department of Education
- Assist with care of children through meal preparation, diapering, bathroom breaks, and cleaning duties
- Provide immediate care to all children through individualized attention and welfare
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect for all children
- Maintain open communication with families to ensure a smooth transition between school and home
- Complete required training for mandated reporters and report any signs of child abuse to onsite director and Right Start Employment Group
- Work both indoors and outdoors
Physical Duties
- Driving throughout San Diego County or within the specified area you agree to
- Lifting children and supplies as needed.
- Listening and communicating with children, parents, co-teachers, directors and the Right Start Employment team
- Standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting and sitting to supervise children and communicate with parents
- Ability to observe safety in the classroom and write necessary corresponding reports

Requirements for Employment:
- Teachers: 12 ECE units.
- Valid first aid and CPR card. EMSA cards preferred but not required.
- A passion for working with children.
- Ability to complete state required training such as mandated reporter and pesticide control.
