POSITION SUMMARY  

The candidate will provide assistance and back-up to the Benefits & Payroll Manager by maintaining record-keeping of all employer-provided and/or elected corporate benefits and retirement programs i.e. medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability options, and 401k and pension plans, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of entries into corporate software systems to comply with state and federal employment and labor laws.

Additional responsibilities include bi-weekly payroll processing and record management, and supporting other HR functions, programs, and initiatives such as an employee wellness program, researching compensation studies, and benefits/payroll policy and procedure development.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in administration of employee benefit programs
  • New-hire orientations as it related to benefits and payroll
  • Assists with the open enrollment process
  • Works with HR & Marketing to effectively communicate company’s benefit package
  • Responds to benefit inquiries from managers and team members on plan provisions, benefits enrollment, status changes, and other general inquiries
  • Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork i.e., medical, personal, disability, and FMLA
  • Acts as primary back-up for payroll when Benefits & Payroll manager is on PTO
  • Administration of bi-weekly payroll for hourly team members
  • Assists in recording and process payroll changes; benefit deductions, corrections, and adjustments using HRIS
  • Assists in Managing 401(k) related projects.
  • Preparing monthly Union Pension Plan reports
  • Processes related to team member separations
  • Assists in the development and promotion of a new team member wellness program
  • Assists with other duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3 years in benefits and payroll administration
  • Understanding basic employment laws and guidelines
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices, and procedures

  • Ability to travel to other locations up to 20%
