We are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer to safely deliver geotechnical support across maintenance, operations, and project study. The main purpose of this role is to support the Mine Studies Design Team in all facets relating to the geotechnical discipline, particularly underground characterization, ground support design, geotechnical monitoring, and modeling, to ensure the Resolution Project is progressed safely and within budget and schedule.
This role is a great opportunity Working and reporting to the Principal Geotechnical Engineer, you will be:
- Contributing to generating a robust Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP).
- Conducting underground geotechnical inspections through damage mapping, instrumentation, and mapping using photogrammetry or lidar scanners.
- Managing geotechnical QA/QC activities, monitoring and maintaining geotechnical instruments, and wireless data collection system.
- Managing ground support trials for various mine excavations and providing rehabilitation plans wherever and whenever necessary.
- Providing geotechnical inputs to Resolution’s future mine plans and designs.
What you’ll bring
To succeed in the role, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geological Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Mining Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Previous exposure to underground mining operations is preferred.
- Previous exposure to geotechnical software.
- Ability to operate within a team of professionals.
- Superior MS Office package is essential.
- Well-developed written and verbal skills are essential.
It will also be beneficial if you have:
- Project and contractor management systems – planning, scheduling, monitoring, and cost control are useful but not required.

Where you will be working
Resolution Copper (RC) Mining LLC is developing one of the largest high-grade copper deposits in the world. RC is a limited liability company owned by Rio Tinto (RT) (55%) and BHP (45%), with RT as managing partner of the Project. The Project site is located ~70 miles East of Phoenix, Arizona, east of Phoenix. RC is undertaking this project to develop the first stage of the mine, concentrator, and tailings facilities for the deposit.
