- Kennecott Utah Copper, LLC, part of the Rio Tinto group, is currently looking for a Specialist – Predictive Maintenance to join our team in Salt Lake City Utah.
The Predictive Maintenance (PdM) Specialist will work closely with Reliability Engineers, Maintenance Engineers,
and others to minimize equipment downtime and life cycle costs. They will use PdM technologies to identify
equipment failures in early stages; thereby allowing maintenance to be performed on a scheduled basis. They will
promote precision maintenance practices and use PdM technologies to evaluate the quality of repairs and
installations.
PdM Specialist are responsible and accountable for safely collecting, analyzing, and reporting on the general health
of plant assets. Below is a list of duties they complete in order to achieve this goal:
- Safely use various PdM technologies to collect, analyze, and report on the general health of the assets.
- Ensure work activities are following all applicable OSHA, MSHA, KUC and Rio Tinto safety regulations and
- Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations.
- Create notifications in SAP when a need for maintenance has been identified based on PdM data.
- Evaluate quality of repairs and provide feedback.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Solid mechanical aptitude.
- Rudimentary knowledge of PdM technologies.
- Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and the ability to work under limited supervision.
- An excellent safety work record and demonstrated safety behaviors.
- Able and willing to work a schedule that supports the business needs (may include shift work, weekend work and holiday work).
- Competency in basic computer skills including Excel and Word.
Training/experience/certification is not required but is highly desirable in the following:
- Associate Degree in a Mechanical, Welding or Engineering related field
- Machinery maintenance experience
- Relevant PdM experience.
- Reliability Centered Maintenance, Root Cause Analysis, Failure Analysis
- Formal certification with any PdM technologies: VA, IR, PAUT, UT, UAE, PT, MT, IR or VT.
- Tribology (oil analysis)
- Motor Current Evaluation
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- SAP, AMS Machinery Manager (MHM) and other PdM software.
