What are the responsibilities and job description for the Country Manager, NA & OCE position at Riot Games?
Reporting to the Head of Americas, as Country Manager, you will wear two hats. Be a pivotal member of America's hub leadership and help us grow our business in North America & Oceania.
In North America & Oceania part of your role, you will lead and develop a team of high-caliber pros who will drive our regional publishing & business development efforts across Riot's diverse portfolio of products. Together as a team, you'll create impactful player experiences that elevate our multi-game community in the region and help expand the community for future games.
In the Americas Hub part of your role, you will partner with our other country managers to define and drive alignment on our regional OKRs. Additionally, you will develop an approach to regularly monitor the performance and effectiveness of our local teams.
You are a leader with an entrepreneurial spirit, have experience managing ambiguous situations, and are used to delivering on tight turnarounds. As a result, you're eager to design and develop experiences that genuinely and measurably engage players.
Responsibilities:
- Create focus within your teams: guide them in the priority-setting process, eliminate blockers, and facilitate execution.
- Build and develop a highly capable team that delivers top-notch publishing and community involvement to English speaking players, media, and other commercial partners.
- Evaluate and manage Publishing budgets and performance across channels, making recommendations for optimizations in our portfolio.
- Execute Riot America's strategic vision in the region in alignment with Riot Americas' leadership team - including high-impact initiatives and projects such as product ecosystem development, Esports brand development, branding and advertising, community engagement, commercial partnerships, press relations.
- Influence our players' behavior to meet business objectives, e. g., awareness, trials, engagement, and monetization.
- Establish a network of local partners who share Riot's philosophy of "Player Experience First" and who can help us deliver authentic experiences to our players.
- Define key performance indicators to set goals for and track the performance of our publishing efforts, and help your teams gain and maintain a data-informed perspective on their work.
- Champion your local communities internally and externally.
Required Qualifications:
- Experienced: You have strong general management experience and good player-focused instincts. You've earned your bachelor's in a relevant field. Ideally, you have experience and strong knowledge of business functions, game marketing, esports, business development, exceptional budgeting, finance skills, and strong leadership qualities. You've championed player experience while driving business operations at least in one of the Americas countries or, ideally, across multiple regions in a global market.
- 10 years of game publishing experience and at least five years in a leadership role
- 5 years in a people management role with multiple senior reports.
- Experience with direct P&L ownership
- Strategic: Your strategic planning and results-driven attitude make you an effective leader who can balance and prioritize short-term solutions without losing sight of the long-term vision; when making critical decisions, you leave no variable unturned with meticulous attention to detail while understanding and staying connected to the bigger picture.
- People leadership: You are a strong people leader with experience leading multiple teams in different locations. You naturally build, lead, and inspire by walking the talk. You think strategically about the skills your team needs to develop and define a holistic plan for development. You are self-aware, take feedback well, and remain open to constructive criticism. You can recognize failure and learn from mistakes. You coach your team members to achieve the best results, facilitating their development.
- Analytical: You're able to expertly explore metrics and analyze gamer trends to construct business cases that support initiatives and help establish best practices.
Desired Qualifications:
- 2 years of Business Development and partnerships experience
- Commercial partnership negotiation experience
- Experience launching a AAA video game, entertainment franchise, or tier-1 CPG products
- Driving & commissioning quantitative analysis to enhance decision making
